Restoran Pau Kee Jalan Imbi 保记沙河粉茶餐厅 – a most famous place for Ipoh Gei Si Hor Fun in KL. Poached Chicken is must-order. Located near to Win Heng Seng Kopitiam which houses the popular Imbi Pork Noodles and one of our favourite Char Koay Teow in town.

Spotted Restoran Pau Kee at Jalan Imbi when visiting Just Kitchen for MrBeast Burger couple of weeks ago. The shop was closed that time, but the name Restoran Pau Kee Sar Hor Fan 保记沙河粉茶餐厅 raised our curiosity, as both of us love Gei Si Hor Fun, yet getting a nice one in KL city isn’t easy.

Google about the restaurant and realized it is actually a very famous place for Ipoh Gei Si Hor Fun, Shrimp Wantan Noodles, Curry Mee, Gei Si Wantan Mee and Shrimp Meat Dumpling. Many love to patronize Pau Kee for breakfast, enjoying a bowl of heartwarming noodles with a side of bean sprouts & poached chicken, aka Ngar Choy Gei. Pau Kee started his business with his partner back in Singapore. He then returned to Malaysia in 1975, opening a stall in a kopitiam in Tong Shin Road. They moved to this location in 2009, till now.

To keep the aunthenticity as much as possibe, Pau Kee uses hor fun from Ipoh, paired with soup boiled using the family’s secret recipe. Of course there’s prawn oil in it, to enhance the overall flavour. Personally we like silky smooth hor fun. Soup wise, it is aromatic, clean in taste, just slightly lack of depth. Still prefer Soo Kee Hor Fun in Seapark PJ.

Summerkid, who is always very particular about the taste of poached chicken, highly recommended Pau Kee’s poached chicken – so tender. They use freshly bought chicken from the market daily, non-frozen.

Other food you can find in Restoran Pau Kee other than Gei Si Hor Fan Soup are Curry Mee Hoon & Mee, Sar Ho Fun with Dry Sauce, Wantan Noodle Soup with Shredded Chicken & Prawn; Dry Wantan Noodle with Shredded Chicken & Prawn, Curry Egg Noodle with Shredded Chicken & Prawn, Curry Pai Guat, Hong Kong Choy Sum with Soy Sauce.
