Chakri Palace, our home for authentic Thai food in Kuala Lumpur. We visit Chakri KLCC most of the time, but ever since Chakri Pavilion KL outlet is opened, it always has a place in our ” what to eat for dinner” list when in this mall.
Had dinner with friends at Chakri Pavilion last week, pampering ourselves with a spread of signature Thai dishes as a reward for fighting through Monday Blues hahaha. Appetite opener tom yum soup, texture-loaded Mieng Kam, steamed fish, pad Thai, etc.. all ready on the table waiting for us to tuck in.
Mieng Kam RM24.90
Started with Mieng Kam. From being skeptical to now being a huge fan of this leafy snack , we enjoy every bite of flavours delivered from the wrap – spiciness of chilli, sourness of lime, pungency from onions, ginger, crunchiness from peanuts, saltiness from sun-dried shrimp and toasted coconut flakes.
Thai Mango Salad with Catfish RM22.90
Thai Mango Salad – A mix of sour, sweet and spicy within refreshing crunch of shredded young mango, peanuts, onions and chilli. Topped with deep fried cat fish for extra textures. Diners can also opt for Soft Shell Crab Thai Mango Salad at RM29.90.
Chakri Red Tom Yam with King Prawn RM29.90
Chakri Tomyum tom yum soup this time added with coconut milk, hence spiciness toned down with coconut sweetness. Asides, the fresh, meaty king river prawn, seeing this is enough to further embellish this crowd favourite.
Chakri Clear Tom Yum with King Prawn RM29.90
The white is more soothing, a balance of sourness and mild spiciness, accompanied by herbs and spices goodness. Laden with gorgeous King prawn, mushroom, squid.
Signature Deep Fried King Prawn with Onion Curry Egg Relish RM29.90 per piece
Give a skip to Thai Green Curry and order Signature Deep Fried King Prawn with Onion Curry Egg Relish. We have been missing this delicious dish since we first had it in during Chakri Ramadhan Buffet. Must try. While there’s no complain over the fresh King Prawn, what makes this dish stand out is definitely the egg – fluffy and moist, a lot more better than many scrambled egg on your breakfast platter, beautifully flavoured up with tumeric curry.
Chakri Roasted Duck with Coffee Sauce RM39.90
Get some jaw exercise with Chakri Special Roasted duck. Very thin, cracker like crispy skin, putting contrast to chewy meat. It may not be satisfyingly tender and juicy, but the savoury oyster sauce based gravy clocks in just right to compensate.
Steamed Seabass with Lime & Chilli RM79.90
Lime and chilli steamed fish, a popular order at almost every Thai restaurant. Soft fish meat, dressed in a bed of spicy, sourish sauce.
Fried Bean Curd with Thai Basil Leaves & Chili RM24.90
Soft taufu stir fried with dark sauces, similar to the claypot tofu we always have in local Chinese restaurant but for this Thai versoin in Chakri, it is helmed with pronounce flavour of basil. Liking this or not can be subjective, fans of basil will love this, but vice versa for those who don’t.
Traditional Pad Thai Noodles RM22.90
Thai Style Fried Glass Noodles, Traditional Pad Thai Noodles, Traditional Beef Noodle Soup, Pineapple Fried Rice, Chakri Fried Rice, Shrimp Paste Fried Rice with Mango, Thai Village Fried Rice with Salted Fish are few of the individual rice and noodles you can opt for besides sharing dishes.
Thai Mango with Sticky Rice RM19.90
Chakri Red Ruby Water Chestnut RM18.90
End the meal with traditional Thai dessert, Thai Mango Sticky Rice and Red Ruby Tab Tim Krob. Both familiar sweet treat, but something that you won’t feel bored having it everytime in a Thai restaurant. Always like Chakri Tab Tim Krob because it is added with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
