Myung-Ga Korean Restaurant @ Bukit Raja, Klang (Invited Review)

Myung-Ga is an authentic Korean Cuisine in Malaysia and staretd off their business since 2011, specialising in meat and seafood BBQ on table and other renowned dishes such as Bulbogi, Kalbi, and Bibimbap. It is located in Klang, a place famous with bak kut teh. You may worry for them, wondering will they do good with so many bak kut teh competitors around them, and having bak kut teh seems to be the main objectives of many for visiting Klang.

Paying there a visit prove us wrong.

The area was rather quiet with almost all shops closed when we were there one Tuesday, and we took some time to reach Myung Ga. But once we stepped in there, we felt like being in another world. It was totally different from the quiet streets out there, the business here was very good, and friendly staffs greeted us and led us to our place. We are worry too much for them, they are doing good. Occupying two floors, the interior is spacious with classy wooden decoration, and private dining rooms are available for larger crowd.

Myung Ga is not stingy in serving Ban chan and they are all refillable upon request. We are served 8 types upon seated. There are Kimchi, raddish, cockles, spinach, peanuts with anchovies, egg, potato and cauliflower.

Godeungeio Gui (RM29)
The meal started off with Godeungeio Gui, or grilled mackerel. Grilled to charry crispiness, the mackerel is crispy outside and the filet is easily lifted off, so soft, so fresh, so delicate. Squeeze in a touch of lemon juice to bring out the richness of the fish.

Gun Mandu Fried Dumplings (RM20)
Mandu, the Korean dumplings here are beautifully pan fried and served pipping hot. Vegetables and minced meat are brimming under the thin dumpling skin, tuck in one and I am satisfy with the juiciness and flavorfulness.

Jokbal Stemed Pig Feet (RM55)
Jokbal, the steamed pig feet cooked with soy sauce and spices is indeed the best dish of the night. Soft and melt-in-mouth fatty layer are pairing perfectly with the tender lean meat, oh-so-mind- blowing. Pork lovers must try this out.
Kimchi Jeon (RM28)
Danhobak Jeon (RM22)
Two types of Korean pancakes are served on the table, which are Kimchi Jeon and Danhobak Jeon. Kimchi Jeon is made using flour batter, kimchi and chilli. It is a savory version pancake that tastes a little spicy, without overpowered kimchi taste.  Danhobak Jeon on the other hand, is on the sweet side. This thin round pan fried sweet pumpkin pancake brings out the sweetness of the pumpkin, and we like the gelatinous texture of the pancake.

Tteokbokki (RM20)
Tteokbokki is a dish that you can eat as full meal or as snack and it is a famous street food which is easily found when you walk down the street of South Korea. The rice cake is cooked with vegetables and simmered in red hot pepper paste. The rice cake is chewy, coupled well with the fiery hot gravy with a hint of sweetness.

Samgyetang (RM33)
Samgyetang, the traditional ginseng chicken soup, is very light and nourishing. Chicken is soft and easily fall off the bone, and cutting through the young chicken revealing the glutinous rice which has fully absorb the flavor of ginseng soup.

Dolsot Bibimbap (RM25)
Bibimbap, the Korean signature rice dish served in hot stone pot has steamed rice topped with bean sprout, carrot, cucumber, seaweed, spinach, black fungus and raw egg yolk. Mix and toss everything together and start indulging in this colorful yet healthy flavour.

Dwaeji Galbi-2 pieces (RM35)
Dwaeji Galbi, or marinated and grilled pork ribs, is the speciality in Myung Ga.

For grilling process, you can grill the meat on your own or request the staff to do it for you. By default, Myung Ga has staffs to do the work for you. So save the hassle and sit back, relax while waiting for the meat to be done.
The beautifully grilled pork ribs.

Meats are done and condiments are well prepared. Time to savour. Get a piece of fresh lettuce and place some grilled pork ribs, garlic, chilli, Pajori, and Ssamjang on top, then wrapped them up and pop everything into your mouth in one go. Discover the freshness of lettuce, juiciness of barbequed pork ribs, and aroma of spices and condiments appearing one by one in your every munch.

Quench your thirst with the many types of Korean can drinks available. Grapes, orange, peach, cinnamon, etc..pick your choice.

Jinro Chamisul Fresh Soju (RM20)
Or you can get a bottle or two of Soju, good to go with their grilled meats.

By the time we left, the clock shows 9.30pm, but the restaurant is still half full with customers. Good food draws good business, and the time and day doesn’t matter. Do visit this restaurant when you have the chance.
