Lepaq Lepaq Cafe @ Jalan Ceylon KL: Jom Lepak at Lepaq Lepaq! [CLOSED DOWN]

Update as of Sept 2017: Lepaq Lepaq Cafe has closed down.

Lepaq Lepaq Cafe – So Summergirl’s colleague has been telling her about the Rainy Day Coffee, Nasi Lemak Cheese Cake and super-duper-extra-huge Big Breakfast from this newly opened cafe in Jalan Ceylon, Off Changkat Bukit Bintang Kuala Lumpur, for the entire week. Eagerness to visit Lepaq Lepaq begin to arise, more intense when their adorable cotton-candy-over-coffee aka the Rainy Day Coffee flood our Instagram and Facebook.

Paid a visit to Lepaq Lepaq Cafe last Saturday morning for light breakfast. At first we expect to see a full house scene but surprisingly, there’s no one in the cafe (not counting staffs on duty of course). The good of being early hahaha. We got the chance to pick where we want to sit, without having to squeeze in between diners, which happened in many other famous brunch spots.

Of where is Lepaq Lepaq Cafe? It is located nearby Changkat Bukit Bintang, KL well-known street for night life. Pass through Feeka Cafe, Nerovivo, Bijan, Hubba Hubba and whatever popular restaurants along the road you may have heard of, until you reach a stand-alone building painted in tiffany blue. Yeap, this two-storey bungalow is Lepaq Lepaq Cafe.

The cafe has got no signboard currently, not sure if they would put up one in future or continue to remain low profile this way. But when we plugged in LepaqLepaq in Waze, location is shown, correctly. So there should be no problem in finding the place if you use this navigation app.

Lepaq Lepaq is a spacious cafe – exposed brick walls, concrete-grey wall finish, surrounded by huge windows lined with black colour frames; wooden tables, chairs and cushioned benches appear in both soft and dark tone.

Honestly, not much surprises from the design, but get a plus points for the concept, because Lepak is a word that represents Malaysian culture well. Here in Lepaq Lepaq, Lepak culture is redefined with modern twist, where you can “lepak” with a cup of coffee, “lepak” with egg benedict, “lepak” with books, or over conversations.

Rainy Day Coffee RM13

For us, we “lepak” for coffee and food, as usual. Lepaq Lepaq menu covers simple two pages list, one page for drinks, snacks and dessert, while another page for savoury dishes. Thanks to the cotton-candy-cloud-coffee pictures in social media platforms, we couldn’t help but ordering the Rainy Day Coffee,  skipping the usual latte and cappuccino for next time.

Summerkid smile like a kid, saying: “Aww so pretty”, when this Rainy Day Coffee arrived ( *Summergirl suspects he is a girl, not for first time). Couldn’t deny it was really adorable, creative presentation that will surely attract tons of diners to come over in near future. This beverage has fluffy cotton candy placed over a cup of black coffee to represent cloud. Heat from coffee will slowly melt the bottom section of cotton candy, causing it to drip down like rain.

Rainy Day Coffee certainly lives up to its name, but “after effect of rain” was quite messy. While sweetness from cotton candy is sugaring the coffee below it, it also overflowed around the coffee, turning the coffee ware sticky, hard to hold.

Iced Milk Chocolate RM12

Main courses are available only on Friday, Saturday and Sunday currently. From tummy warming Mushroom Soup, classic Spaghetti Carbonara, Char-grilled Australian Lamb Rack with Homemade Red Wine Sauce, Chicken Breast Mayo Sandwich, to unexpected innovative combinations Oriental Oven-roasted Crispy Whole Dauck Leg with Orange Thyme Reduction and Ikura & Caviar Egg Benedict, you can now get them on Lepaq Lepaq Cafe.

Smoked Duck Breast Benedict RM20

We opted for Egg Benedict version that put together more general ingredients – Seared smoked duck breast slices and sauteed pea sprouts served on a toasted sliced baguette, topped with perfect poached eggs and homemade Hollandaise sauce.

Small serving size, big eater will not get full from having this but it tasted great, especially the thickly sliced smoked duck. Flavourful, locked with juiciness. Not to forget the pinch of cheese powders that managed to heighten the entire flavours of the rather pale Hollandaise sauce.

Didn’t order the gimmick Nasi Lemak Cheese Cake, because it was too early to tuck into such a special dessert. When leaving, we saw Masa Aoki San, Summergirl favourite barista who used to be in WA Cafe Pavillion KL and 20 Seeds Bukit Bintang, and began to regret not ordering a cup of “normal” coffee. Nevermind, now we have another reason to come again. Hopefully he will be there in our next visit. #keepthefingerscrossed

Do come by Lepaq Lepaq to lepak ya!
