Terracotta Cafe & Boutique @ Tropicana Avenue, Petaling Jaya

Terracotta Cafe, a new, pioneer cafe in Tropicana Avenue PJ, another mixed commercial hub fronting Persiaran Tropicana. Still a quiet area, and we wonder how long it will take to get the crowds in. Perhaps another year more or so. Despite the minimal foot traffic, Terracotta Cafe received a steady stream of walked in customers for lunch and teatime. At least this was what we saw during our visit last weekend afternoon. Expect to see more postings of this charming cafe on social media in near future.

Located on first floor, Terracotta is a small cafe that sits about 25 pax indoor, added up to around 35 pax with outdoor seating. Quarter of the space is sectioned out as boutique store, where patrons can have clothes shopping besides dining. What lack in size, they makes up with distinctive interior, creating a feminine, flower-filled sanctuary.

Terracotta Cafe menu covers from local favourite Nasi Lemak Biru serves with fried chicken, sausage and sambal (RM17.90) to Western All Day Breakfast such as Cheesy Tuna Waffles (RM17.90), Denver Scrambled Egg with Mushrooms, Hams, Cheese, Hash Brown, Croissant (RM19.90), Big Breakfast (RM22.90) and Big Burger with Chicken Patty and Fries (RM19.90); Pasta like Mamamia Bolognese Pasta (RM19.90), Lacely White Carbonara Pasta (RM22.90), Aglio Olio (RM17.90) and Grenada Verde Green Pasta (RM22.90). Chicken Wings, Salted Egg Fries, Chicken Nuggets, Onion Rings, Potato Wedges complete the Finger Food section. Price within RM25.

Sylvia’s Mixed Fruit Farm RM22.90

We settled down on all things sweet, started with Sylvia’s Mixed Fruit Farm waffle. Freshly made waffles showered with lots of mixed berries love, topped with Terracotta Cafe in house vanilla ice cream and milk tea ice cream, swirls of whipped cream then finished with sugar powder sprinkles. Waffle is crispy throughout, not much room for fluffiness. Ice cream is really rich and milky, hence tangy sourness of berries come in just right to balance up the overall flavours.

The Butterfly Pea Tea RM11.90

The Butterfly Pea Tea, a beverage that gets highest attention amongst other tea in Terracotta Cafe. Beautiful blue, prepared from in-house picked blue pea flower. You can also purchased from the tea counter. Chamomile Flower, Peppermint, English Breakfast, Imperial Earl Grey, Mountain Berry are few other Imported Tea Leaf you can get here. Coffee, milk tea, smoothies are available too.

Unicorn Tear Drop (RM8.90)

Unicorn Tear Drop (RM8.90), Panna Cotta ( RM8.90), Chocolate Brownies ( RM12.90), Ice Cream Scoop (RM7.90) and Daily Cakes (RM12.90) complete Terracotta Cafe dessert menu. For no reason, our attention fell on Unicorn Tear Drop – the famous Japanese Raindrop Cake that appears like rain drop, jiggles like jelly. The cafe has their version served with ground hazelnut and honey, instead of usual soy bean powder and brown sugar syrup.

Overall review: Friendly service. Waffles is decent but no comments on the savoury as we did not try any.  Portions seems huge, as seen from the next table’s sandwich. Hahaha. For those who want to take photos with the wall adorned with rows of flowers, do be early. The seat was occupied when we reached. So pray for your luck.
