Mid Valley Megamall Mid-Autumn Festival 2017

My family and I went for a weekend brunch at Plan B at Mid Valley Megamall last week, and we stumbled upon the Mid-Autumn Festival going on in full swing. It’s located at the South Court, beside Metrojaya.

 The event space is elegantly decorated with Chinese lattice panels in dark wooden colour, further adorned with lanterns in yellow and pink to create ancient era atmosphere with modern touch. A design that fits well into Mid-Autumn Festival.

We strolled around, looking for special mooncakes for our own Mid-Autumn dinner, but we were soon captivated by the wide array of creative and unexpected mooncake flavours. They were all presented by famous bakeries, tea houses, restaurants and hotels.

Choices are aplenty, from traditional baked mooncakes to dessert-like snow skin mooncakes, tea-infused mooncakes, modern fusion mooncakes. We even saw cartoon shape Hello Kitty mooncakes!

Love these functional, exquisitely designed mooncakes packaging boxes. Totally took our heart away! So pretty we felt like bringing all home!

Summergirl loves this pastel colour mooncake box from Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur. Such a dreamy purple! We were recommended with their new Mango and Melon Seed Snow Skin Mooncake; and Caramelized White Chocolate, Biscuit Pearls, Dulcey Ganache Chocolate Mooncake. Complicated concoction but interesting though.

Contemporary galaxy mirror-box with eye-catching crystal brooches from Concorde Hotel Kuala Lumpur is a big hit this year. Selling like hotcakes.

In line with Otsukimi, an annual moon-viewing festival in Japan, Komugi launches few handcrafted mooncakes made with finest ingredients for an authentic taste of Japan. RM128 per box of 4 pieces – Red Bean, Green Tea Milk, Low Sugar White Lotus, Bamboo Charcoal Hazelnut.

Mooncakes from Hilton Kuala Lumpur never disappoint, especially their snow skin range. Rose Gold Dusted Roselle Ruby is their must-try this year. And also the 2017 collectable box that can fit into your wardrobe fashion! You can carry it out like fashionable clutch.

Adorable Hello Kitty and My Melody limited edition mooncakes, only from Good Chen.

OMG spotted legendary egg custard mooncake from Peninsula Boutique! All the way from Hong Kong to Malaysia. Their egg custard mooncake oh-so-good! Rich in flavour but not too sweet, laced with very mild lychee hints. RM180 per box.

 Inspired by the spirit of flowers, InterContinental Kuala Lumpur festivity’s boxes with floral patterns, luminous gold box and pulsating charcoal grey colour base are equally appealing. Found unique flavours from this hotel’s mooncakes – Pure Durian and Salted Caramel Chocolate, Japanese Purple Potato and Green Tea, and Scarlet Baked Snow Skin with Pandan and Salted Egg Bean Paste.

Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel easy-to-carry gift box looks nice too! Can keep for future picnic session LOL. Some of the special flavour from this 5-star hotel are Alisan Tea Past with Green Tea, Yam Paste with Single Yolk, Honey Lotus Paste with Chocolate, Red Pitaya Lotus Paste with Mango.

Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur always scores on their elegant gift box and quality all-time favourite mooncakes in baked and snowskin range, same goes to this year. Pack classic and new flavours in two-tiered or three-tiered gift box in oriental floral design.

The Westin Kuala Lumpur YUE Mooncake Box incorporated with bluetooth speaker is another favourite of ours. And not to forget their Five Sen5es Supreme Miced Nuts. We never like 五仁月餅 but Westin version is real delicious. Having chicken floss as part of the filling does the magic maybe.

Love Durian? Dragon-I has both Frosty Durian Musang King Mooncake and Frosty Durian D24 to satisfy your craving for King of Fruit. They even have luscious Bird’s Nest with Pandan Frosty Skin Mooncakes.

Tea and mooncake, the all time perfect pairing. Apart from mooncakes, check out tea selections like White tea with Dried Mandarin Orange Peel, Da Hong gan, Pu Er, Zhi Zhu Lan, Cha Wang Gan and more from Purple Cane Tea House. They also have Mooncake Gift Box with Tea below RM100. Very affordable price.

Dried meat, chicken floss, biscuits and more from Bee Cheng Hiang. Grab some of them to make your Mid-Autumn Festiveal gathering merrier. The stall is located at the outer side, facing Metrojaya. Don’t miss it!

Mooncakes by Lavender covers from traditional flavours to more gimmicky ones like White lotus Banana Snow Skin, chocolate White Bean Paste Snow Skin, Liu xiu Durian Mooncake, Durian Lotus Paste Snow Skin, Pine Seed Orange Paste Snow Skin Mooncake, just to name a few.

Hello Planet handmade cellophane paper lanterns. Remind us about the good old days where we used to carry such colourful lanterns with kids around the neighbourhood. Such a great memories.

Spotted chef from Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel in action, making snow skin mooncake. It is part of the mid-autumn activities in conjunction with this special event. We were told that mooncake workshops sessions are already fully booked but they also have Lantern Making workshop held on 23th September 2017 and 30th September 2017.
