Drop KL, The Terraces TREC: Taste of World in Handcrafted Cocktails

Drop KL, the latest addition to The Terraces, TREC Kuala Lumpur, is expected to soon becoming one of the best destinations for remarkable molecular cocktails and hand-picked organic wines, beyond just as KL’s very first modern American restaurant.

The strong team behind the bar, which made up of mixologist experts Tim Clark, Imrani Hossain and certified sommelier Alison Christ, give us enough reason to drop by for a drink last week.

Drop KL is situated at the more quiet corner of TREC, away from the happening main street which has better foot traffic. The extra minutes we spent looking for this place all turned worthwhile, when we walked up the easy-to-overlook staircases (*beside Wine Connection) and get welcomed by a beautiful view of Royal Selangor Golf Club at their al-fresco dining area. So pretty but too bad we couldn’t get a picture of the real scene during our visit, as it was raining heavily.

Moving indoor, thoughtfully designed spaces continued to give us some Wow moments – sleek, stylish bar; cafe like corner for intimate drinking session, Japanese zen-style dining booth, dining floor furnished with marble floorings, high tables and chairs, everything modern contemporary.

Come early for their Apertivo Hour, 5-7PM on weekdays to enjoy a cocktail and canape pairing at just RM35. Garibaldi, prepared from Rinnamato Aparativo, Fresh Orange Juice, Lemon Juice, Sugar Syrup, will be a nice cocktail to begin with if you like something light, citrusy, easy-to-drink.

Ginger Kiss is equally refreshing, concocted from Rinomato , fresh pineapple juice, lemon juice and ginger syrup, concocted with is equally refreshing, great as a before-dinner-cocktail.

Our favourites among the rest. Potent in flavours, smooth and sweet, laced with very subtle sourish finish.

Smoky Gringo
Alipus Mezcal, Rinnamato Aparativo, Joseph Catron Framboise (Raspberry), Organic Agave Syrup, Lime Juice

You will find that cocktails served in Drop KL doesn’t appear too fancy, nor heavily decorated with different fresh herbs, flowers, etc to make it photoraphy-worthy. Here, is all about getting the ingredients at the right proportion, creating balanced flavours that will impress each guest. It can look simple, but each and every drink is carefully crafted, definitely built with strength.
