Top Things to do in Desaru Coast Adventure Waterpark, Malaysia

March 13, 2019 by summerkid_summergirl

To be honest, there aren’t many things to do in Desaru Coast Malaysia currently. But having a 3D2N getaway at this latest Johor attraction is certainly a great idea, especially during school holidays or for short vacation.

Desaru Coast Adventure Waterpark

During our 3D2N stay in Hard Rock Hotel Desaru, we spent most of the time chilling around the hotel, strolled along the beach in the evening, enjoyed lovely booze accompanied by great live band music at night, and also, had a wonderful day at the popular Desaru Coast Adventure Waterpark.

Desaru Coast Adventure Waterpark

Spanning across 25 acres, Desaru Coast Adventure Waterpark is the newest waterpark in Malaysia, completed with various rides, slides and attractions suitable for visitors of all ages.

What is so special about Desaru Coast Adventure Waterpark:

Desaru Coast Adventure Waterpark takes pride in having one of the largest wavepools in the world, biggest in South East Asia. It holds more than 4 million gallons of water over nearly 3 acres.

Enjoy the large waves, or walk along the 170m long sanding shoreline of the Tidal Wave manmade beach.

Desaru Coast Adventure Waterpark

Their 350-metre long Penawar River, is the longest lazy river in Malaysia, looping the Zone 2 of Desaru Waterpark with shelter from lush greenery.

And not to forget, many other fun activities and rides in this water theme park. Read on.

What to do in Desaru Coast Adventure Waterpark:

1. Super Twister – Cruise through Radius Curves with Unexpected Drop into Funnel
A set of fun, exciting curves and funnels twister rides, with back and forth oscillation, putting you on exit back into the enclosed tunnel then to another one.

2. Kraken’s Revenge Roller Coaster & Splashing Flume Ride

Literally our best ride we had in Desaru Coast Adventure Water Park. Sit in a boat that brought us 30 metres above the ground, then spin through a full 360-degress horizontal loop, followed by a diving 27-metre drop to the shipwrecking Kraken sea monster at the speed up to 70 km/h for a thrill, splashing finish. So much fun for this!

3. Experience the Thrill of Swinging Ship

Sit inside the replica of pirate ship, and get arched up to 180 degrees into the air, from both directions!

4. Take a picture with Penawar Falls

Three separate waterfalls flowing over rising cliffs into a pond, with giant Penawar Flower sends on a discovery for a story of pirates, villagers and young heroes.

5. Float Down the Longest Lazy River in Malaysia

Get your very own tube and wind down the river. Completing this zone are the famous top 4 giant water slides in Desaru Coast Adventure Waterpark – Wild Whirl, Super Twister, Riptide and The Tempest.

6. Chill & Relax at Penawar Rive Huts

7. The Tempest – High-energy Funnels plus 24 Feet Drop

Took a rest and we moved on to The Tempest for high-banking swings. That 55-foot tube slide with a funnel in the middle is impressive, as it brought us down on swirling vortex that made us screamed our lungs out before ending with a splash of water at the bottom.

8.Whirl-Around-Fun at Wild Whirl
Wild Whirl, another favourite of ours. We loved how the ride brought us down a steep entrance channel, then shoot into wide-open bowl, where we sticked to the wall and speed around the circle, going forward by momentum. We then got sent down into the patented CorkScrew and down a tunnel into a pool.

9. Get Swept Away at the Steepest Angles with Riptide
High-speed water ride at steep angles. Travel downhill, slide back and forth for few times, hits the second and third twisters, and finally, a splash into the pool.

10. Rest in Beachsie Cabanas

This was hard for us. We couldn’t really ride on a surfing board and stand up in balance. Hahaha. But it was interesting though.

TIPS: To avoid crowd, begin your day earlier. Be there before 11AM so that you can enjoy some of the facilities without having to queue. It gets crowded towards noon time, quite packed within 1PM-3PM during our visit.

Overall Review: Had a enjoyable time in Desaru Coast Adventure Waterpark. It looks rather boring at first glance, maybe due to the larger space, which diverse the crowd at different corners of the theme park. But as we really joined in all the rides, we found that it was an interesting place.

Each ride has their own uniqueness, some similar and some different from rides in Adventure Cove Waterpark RWS Singapore. So we do not want to compare which one is better. Both are lovely.

Do give this theme park a try when you are visiting this premium integrated destination resort city!
