Indulge in the spirit of reflection and togetherness during the sacred month with your dearest at The Westin Kuala Lumpur’s Kampung Nelayanku dinner buffet, as traditional and nostalgic flavours from cuisines popular in Malaysian fishing villages come to life at The Living Room, the hotel’s all-day-dining-restaurant.
Running from March 14th to April 7th, 2024, this delightful buffet spread offers a diverse array of mouthwatering dishes, meticulously prepared by the restaurant’s team of culinary whizzes, led by Chef Hamid Buyong, Executive Sous Chef at The Westin Kuala Lumpur.
The highlights of the Kampung Nelayanku buffet spread offers a range of seafood favourites cooked in recipes synonymous with the cooking styles of Malaysian fishing villages. These dishes include Lala Buloh Masak Pedas, Ikan Keli Cili Hijau, Ikan Keli Goreng Berlado, Siput Sedut Masak Lemak Cili Api, Siput Buluh Masak Halia, Sambal Udang Petai, Udang Masak Cili Telur, Udang Kari Nenas, Kari Kepala Ikan Bendi, Kepala Ikan Asam Pedas Bendi, Abraj Janadriya Sharwarma, Sotong Masak Bawang, Singgang Ikan, Ikan Keli Cili Hijau, Sayur Lodeh Terengganu, Ayam Berlado, and more. These dishes will all be served on a rotational basis throughout this special month.
No spread this month is complete without a Rendang dish, and diners will not be disappointed at The Living Room as the chefs will serve up four additional specialty Rendang dishes including Rendang Udang, Rendang Kerang, Rendang Ayam Kampung Hijau and Rendang Daging Pahang. All these will be available on the spread daily. The Rendang dishes will be accompanied with offerings of Lemang Putih, Lemang Hitam, Ketupat Palas, Ketupat Daun Kelapa and condiments to elevate the flavours, Serunding Daging, Serunding Ayam and Serunding Kelapa.
The buffet doesn’t end here. Take the escalator down ( near to the dessert room), walk outdoor, and we are surprise that there are more dishes waiting for us. Here, you can have a variety of fried items and succulent roasted delicacies. Within the ‘Bakar-Bakar Muara’, patrons can savor the beloved Malaysian dish, Kambing Golek, prepared in two distinctive styles that rotate daily. Options include the Maghribi style, served with Nasi Kabsah and Saffron Egg, or the Berempah style, complemented by Nasi Minyak Terengganu, Saffron Egg, Coriander, and Black Raisin. Otak-otak Muar, Ikan Bakar Sumbat and Sotong Kunyit are available too.
In addition to the traditional favourites, there will also be Bubur Lambuk specialty station serving up the hot rice porridge dish with condiments, Chinese delicacies, Indian dishes, kid’s favorites, and even a noodle counter.
To sweeten the meal, diners will be spoilt for choice at the Dapur Manis Kak Su dan Abang Pit section. A range of local desserts like the Bubur Pulut Hitam, Pengat Pisang Sago, Bubur Kacang Hijau Bersama Durian, Dodol, Tapai Ubi and Tapai Pulut, Kuih Ketayap, Kuih Seri Muka, Kuih Popiah Sambal, Kuih Talam, Ais Krim Potong, Banana Gula Melaka, Pulut Managga, and more.
To accompany all these sumptuous treats, The Living Room will be serving a range of drinks including Malaysian favourite, Nescafe Tarik, Neslo, Teh Hijau Danok, Teh Ais Madu Buih, Susu Jagung, Soya Cincau, Bandung Selasih, Air Ribena Laici and Kopi Ais.
