Bangkok based, Michelin Guide selected restaurant JHOL is bringing their ever-famous Coastal Indian Cuisine dining concept to Malaysia, first in THE MET Corporate Tower, Kuala Lumpur.
Originated from Bangkok’s Sukhumvit district, JHOL is led by Indian-born, New York-based restaurateur chef Hari Nayak. He was graduated from the Culinary Institute of America, began his career at the three-Michelin-starred Daniel in New York under Chef Daniel Boulud. Through JHOL, he brings his Indian heritage to life for many food lovers, building on his success as the author of seven cookbooks, including the bestseller Modern Indian Cooking.
“JHOL” refers to ‘mischief’ – that reflects the restaurant’s creative and unconventional approach, reimagines Indian cuisine in bold and exciting ways. The menu draws inspiration from the diverse culinary traditions of India’s coastline – ranging from the Konkan and Malabar regions in the west to Chettinad, Pondicherry, and the Bay of Bengal in the east.
Chef Hari Nayak also emphasizes the use of locally sourced ingredients wherever possible, thoughtfully incorporating them into his dishes to celebrate both regional produce and Indian culinary traditions. From selecting the freshest ingredients to preparing each dish with precision, striving to exceed expectations for every diner.
JHOL Kuala Lumpur offers both Tasting Menu, Ala-carte Menu, Lunch Menu and Dessert Menu for now. We visited last week and sampled their Tasting Menu, along with specially crafted Gin & Tonic highly recommended by the staff.

Personally, we like the Alleppey Fish Curry from our main course; Tender Coconut Payasam and Sticky Toffee Pudding – which both are dessert, the most. Especially enjoyed how the curry appears to be mildly spiced and aromatic without overwhelming the palate, gently layered and goes in harmony with the natural sweetness and flavours of the fish.
