As December draws in, the joyful spirit of Christmas starts filling the air. Once again, it is time to cherish the moment with friends and family, and spending Christmas with a jingle full of treats in Flavours Restaurant, Swiss Garden Hotel & Residences Kuala Lumpur will surely be a remarkable experience.
Presenting a wide variety of irresistible dishes, diners will be spoilt with Christmas buffet choices which is available from 9-24 December 2013, from 6.30pm till 10.30pm with rm75++ onwards per adult and RM39++ per children.
Start the gastronomic journey with the wide spread of appetizers and salad, so many that we lost count on it. Among them included Spanish Red Onion, Russian Salad, Mango Chicken Salad, German Potato Salad, Corn Kernel with Bell Pepper, Roasted Beetroot Salad with Blue Cheese & Herb Vinaigrette, Baby Potato with Chestnut & Herbs, Sauteed Brocoli & Baby Carrot, smoked duck breast, chicken ham and smoked salmon.
Seafood lovers can grab fresh oyster, boiled prawns, boiled crabs; cheese lovers can have slices of cheese together with condiments like fruits, biscuit, etc.
Continue to pile the plate with hot dishes from the mains counter, such as Braised Lamb Shank Osso Buco, Pan Fried Salmon Fillet with Orange Sauce, Santan Spring Chicken with Pearl Shallot Sauce, Veal Medallion with Mustard Sauce, Smoked Duck with Spaghetti Aglio Olio Style, butter rice, oxtail soup, sweet pumpkin soup.
To be frank, choices of mains aren’t extensive, but we are glad that each of them fares well, especially the Smoked Duck with Spaghetti Aglio Olio Style. Lightly tossed with olive oil, chili flakes and garlic, the spaghetti was al dente, flavours added with the sliced smoked duck . Some find it over spicy, indeed, but that is the way we like. Fiery hot and taste buds tickling.
Apart from that, diners can have barbequed tiger prawn, mini steak, chicken wing from the BBQ counter. We like the tiger prawn, bouncy, slightly smoky with a faint hint of burnt flavours.
Highlights of the buffet will definitely be the Oven Roasted Turkey with Chestnut Stuffing, something that you shouldn’t miss out in this Christmas buffet. Meat is rather tough, but no worries as button mushroom sauce, cranberry sauce and Giblet sauce can help to moisture up the dryness, yet promoting fruity note that create a balance to sooth the savouriness of the other two sauces.
Roasted Herb Wellington Beef is worth mentioning too, having deep flavoured beef wrapped within flaky, buttery pastry. Mouthful of meatiness with puffy texture.
Save some rooms for sweet treats, all beautifully decorated and neatly arranged at the dessert counter. Fruit cakes, Christmas stollen, Christmas Yule Log, minced pie, Christmas pudding with Vanilla Sauce are among the must have. Traditional.
Other than that diners can also enjoy tiramisu in a glass, French pastries, cheese cakes, chocolate cake, mini fruit tart, Rasberry White Chocolate Mousse, etc. Too many good food, too little stomach space. From the very few he had tried, mini fruit tart is highly recommended, crisp pastry nestled with soft cream, topped over with burst of juiciness from fresh berry and orange.
