BreadFruits, a quaint little shop in Desa Sri Hartamas with wooden furnishing and large French window glasses in black colour lining exterior. Rows of fruits are arranged inside and outside the shop, a scene that sum up our rough guess – ” this shop sells fresh fruit. or maybe fresh fruit juices.”
We aren’t wrong, as BreadFruits does sell fruit and juices. However, we aren’t correct in all, because it has more to discover. It is actually a small cafe with complete breakfast and brunch menu. Every dish here is carefully designed to present a plate of wholesome and healthy diet to diners, packed with nutritions.
The cafe was full house during our visit last Saturday morning. We waited a while before getting a small table outdoor. Business was really good, as a vacant table left by previous customer was immediately occupied by another group, and small queue happened in between too. Such a brisk business that aroused our curiosity to their food, can’t wait for our orders to reach!
Roasted Banana Bacon French Toast with Passion Wild Honey (RM18.80)
We started off with this extraordinary combination of sweet, souring and savoury bite of caramelized banana, bacon and Passion Wild Honey juice on oven baked rye bread French toast. The existence of bacon seemed odd, but a taste of harmony slipped in when we had it with the banana, surprisingly good. And needless to say, the French toast with a dash of icing sugar went more appetizing with the passion fruit and wild honey sauce, opened up our taste bud before we reached for the next dish.
Smoked Salmon Breakfast Platter (RM24.80)
The breakfast platter in BreadFruits was not as hearty as many other places, but they have bits of everything to make your platter perfect! Smoked salmon, scramble egg, avocado & cherry tomato salad, lemon, arugula & sourdough filled up the plate, so pleasing in colours and taste. Served with coffee/tea and juice of the day.
We liked the Avocado & cherry tomato salad, loaded with juicy burst of tomato and worth mentioned buttery, creamy, rich cubed avocado. Very fresh, no sign of over-soft and mushy texture. We were quite full by the time we polished the whole platter clean. Do not underestimate this “not very huge platter”.
SatisFry Up (RM22.80)
The SatisFry Up was made up of bacon, scramble egg, sautéed mushroom, roasted cherry tomato, mash potato, arugula and toast, not overwhelmingly heavy but satisfying good and full nutrient to cheer up the organism. Scramble egg was beautifully done- a mix of soft, fluffy and moist goodness.
Gourmet Antipasto Breakfast Platter (RM25.80)
If big breakfast or sandwich wasn’t your cup of tea, perhaps you can skip them and go straight for this Gourmet Antipasto Breakfast Platter which is new on BreadFruits menu. It features a wide range of traditional dry cured hams (prosciutto, salami milano), chorizo sausage, aged cheeses (brie, cheddar), strawberry grape olive salad, 7 minutes egg and toasted cabiatta.
Summerkid went gaga with the seven minute egg, so runny and subtly smooth.
B.L.T Avocado Guacamole (RM16.80)
A breakthrough of classic BLT by sandwiching mashed avocado guacamole, bacon, lettuce, tomato, egg within two toasted ciabatta. Love the wholesome munch especially the cabiatta, promoting a crispy outside, fluffy soft inside texture that drew a smile on Summergirl’s face. You know the bread is good when this small eater asking for another round of same bread.
Wild Honey Latte
Took a try on their wild honey latte. Frothy, slightly bitter with a touch of wild honey sweetness and fragrance. Interesting twist.
Wild Honey Iced Latte
Passion Fruit with Wild Honey (RM9.90)
Or washed down with choices of fresh fruit juices and blended drinks range from orange, pineapple, mango, apple, guava to passion fruit. Natural revitalizing booster!
