At Chequers Cafe TTDI, you can hardly go wrong with an order of waffle, be it sweet or savoury. Portion is good enough as main course for the savouries; while for the sweet, great as sharing dessert. But of course, Chequers menu covers also pasta, lasagna, lamb rack, grilled chicken steak, cheese steak sandwich, mango shrimp wrap, pan seared salmon, pesto seabass for wider options.
What interest us more during our visit this time is Chequers newly launched savoury doughnuts. Yea, you read it right. These freshly handmade, fluffy dense doughnut is generously layered with various type of toppings. From BBQ Beef Ribs to Fritata, Mac n Cheese, Chipotle, and Chicken Tikka, each seems so good and we had a difficult time deciding which one to have. In the end, we tried all, and get really amazed with how good they are.
When they say Mac n’ Cheese, they mean it. Gooey, cheesy sauce coated comma shape pasta on top of the doughnut, definitely not your usual Mac n’ Cheese flavoured chips kind of snack.
BBQ Beef Ribs doughnut is our favourite, putting together well-flavoured pulled beef laced in sticky sweet sauce, something which believed will be equally good even on pasta, rice and bread.
Have the savoury, but do not forget the sweet. Chequers complete the series with 8 sweet doughnuts – Strawberry Pistachio, Choco Mint, Tiramisu, Choco Oreo, Pandan Gula Melaka, Cream Cheese, Lemon Poppy Seed & Matcha Lemon.
Mexican Fried Chicken Waffle
Even though current waffles selections on Chequers are well-loved by many customers, the restaurant has chosen to revamp their menu, to better, with more exciting combination to continue satisfy patrons. Mexican Fried Chicken Waffle can easily become the signature – Jalapeno and corn waffle over deep fried boneless chicken, honey glazed beef bacon, coriander, and grilled capsicum. Served with tomato salsa, mesclun salad and honey mustard sauce.
Pulled BBQ Ribs Waffle
Munching on waffle that has onion, capsicum and mushroom bits in it, feels like having healthy, simple breakfast from mum’s kitchen. Added a good portion of pulled barbecue ribs sauteed with red and green bell peppers, it deserves a place for lunch or dinner. Served with greek salad.
Vegetarian diners are taken care too, with Vegetarian Waffle that tastes equally good. Summergirl loves it. Eat clean with fried zucchini and carrots mixed in spinach waffle. Served with sauteed capsicum, eggplant, button mushroom, asparagus, black olives, cherry tomatoes, and zucchini over a roasted sesame sauce.
Chequers Aglio Olio
Had a try on Chequers Aglio Olio too. Probably we will stick to their waffle dishes in coming visits.
