Alto Sky Lounge Hatten Hotel Melaka, one of the very few restaurants in Melaka that offers a breathtaking view of city’s coastal township. Set on 22 floors above the ground, expect a more noteworthy dining experience in the exquisitely designed Italian restaurant, or an outdoor bar proudly lines up with a good selections of wines, cocktails and alcoholic drinks.
We paid a visit to Alto Sky Lounge during our stay in Hatten Melaka, and sampled one of their set menu. Only RM148++ per person for a fulfilling 6-course dinner, completed with a glass of Italian wine and coffee/tea.
Insalata Caprese con Carciofi
A decorative serving of Caprese Salad, putting together torched Mozzarella cheese over tomato slice, finished with light swirl of balsamic vinaigrette, our favourite dressing that really helps to flavour up this simple starter.
Tortellini in Brodo
Chicken Dumpling in Broth
Tortellini in Brodo, a classic Italian soup that showcases some similarity to our Chinese soup. Chicken base with peppery hints, light in consistency, texture added with the most important element – tortellini, like dumpling filled with minced chicken.
Lychee flavour sherbet to clean up the palate before main course. Icy cold, sweet and refreshing sherbet that we made us all “freshen up”, fully ready for the next savoury dishes to be served.

Grilled Beef with Mushrooms simmered in Masala Wine
For main course in this RM148++ set menu, diners can choose from Grilled Beef with Mushroom Simmered in Masala Wine, Sole Fillet with Lemon White Wine Sauce and Baked Chicken Breast with Basil Tomato Sauce and Parmigiana. We picked for the first two, seeing that Summerkid loves beef dishes while Summergirl always prefers seafood choice.

Glad that both were pretty good. Instead of serving in thick cut, chef gave two thinner slices of meat but equally enjoyable. Tender, further flavoured up with Masala wine infused sauce. For fish, bigger eaters may not be able to feel full with the portion given. So there’s where the next up risotto comes in to save! Two spoonfuls portion of Arboria rice blended with with lump crab meat, shrimp, green peas and tomato, just right to fill up the tummy alongside with other dishes.

Italian ice cream in three layers of different colours and flavours
We were already quite full by the time dessert reached. The portion is whole lot more bigger than we expected. Three layers of ice cream on a bed of biscuit crumbs. Vanilla, strawberry, chocolate ice cream, one by one of three flavours together, doesn’t matter. Indulge in the way you like it for a lovely, sweet ending in Alto.
