[CLOSED DOWN] Omaya Pavilion KL: Korean Cheese Dakgalbi, Army Stew & More

August 26, 2017 by summerkid_summergirl

Omaya Pavilion Kuala Lumpur is now opened! This is the fifth Omaya outlet in Malaysia after their successful opening in ss15 Subang Jaya, Mont Kiara KL, Mount Austin Johor, and Queensbay Mall Penang.

Omaya Pavilion KL

Located next to Morganfield’s Pavilion, we have been eye-ing for months on the wall board of Omaya Pavilion which printed with their mouth-watering Cheese Dalkgabi, wondering when it will open the doors to public. So glad that the wait is finally over. Can’t wait to check it out!

Omaya Pavilion KL

We believe that Omaya Malaysia doesn’t need further introduction. Back in 2016, when this famous restaurant from Korea first established in Malaysia, they took the social media world by storm, filling up feeds of many with photos of delicious Korean dakgalbi and fried chicken rolled with stretchy melted cheese, and beyond.

Queue is long, hours of waiting and till now, people are still making a beeline to their outlets for a taste of their signature dishes. From Shimson Stew to Lee Kwang-Soo Cheese Dakgalbi, Cheesy Topokki Stew, Korean BBQ Skewers, Busan Giant Seafood Platter, Korean Grilled Meat, Korean Army Stew, Korean Cheese Fried chicken, choices on Omaya Malaysia menu are mostly noteworthy, ideal for sharing.

Omaya Pavilion KL

The first plus point of Omaya Pavilion KL goes to the space. Really spacious lot that can accommodate hundreds of patrons at a time, but still, expect to wait for some time especially during peak lunch and dinner hours.

**Our second visit to this outlet on a Friday dinner put us into 45minutes of waiting time. Our friend waited for like 90minutes. Business is really good so be patient ya.

Omaya Pavilion KL

Modern industrial design, with great utilization of steel, wood, zinc walls, expose bricks, cements elements together with bright and contrasting colours of mainly yellow and blue for a more colourful, chic and fun finish. Photography-worthy at almost every corner.

Deep Fried Squid Cheesy Toppokki Stew RM58

Paid a visit for dinner on the first week of their opening. Ordered 4 dishes to share among 6 of us – Omaya Korean BBQ Skewer, Deep Fried Squid Cheesy Toppokki Stew, Fried Chicken Cheey Toppoki Stew and Shimson Stew.

Shimson Stew RM84

Omaya Pavilion KL

Shimson Stew- One of the best sellers.  Almost every table will order this. Army Stew, or Budae Jjigae at the centre; Stir Fried toppoki Chicken and cheese filling up the cavity near the ring of pot.

Omaya Pavilion KL

While waiting for the cheese to melt, we enjoy Army Stew that put together sausage, enoki mushroom, vegetables, ham slices, ramyum, bean sprout, rice cake, all simmer in tummy warming orange-red soup that incorporated mild spiciness and sourness.

Omaya Pavilion KL

As cheese begins bubbling, is time to chopstick few chicken chunks, dunk into the melted cheese and roll up as much as you can for maximum cheesy satisfaction. So intriguing. Paradise for cheesy lovers.

Omaya Pavilion KL

When we almost finished our Army Stew, staff came and prepared fried rice using the remaining ingredients inside the stew. Back to basic, but flavourful comfort food.

Omaya Pavilion KL

1200mm Korean BBQ Skewer RM138

Can’t hold our WOW feeling when staff brought out this super huge and long skewer, then hang it from the ceiling. It is Omaya Korean BBQ Skewer – a world-record, 1200mm skewer holding Special Selected Pork Belly, Premium Pork Shoulder, Premium Beef Steak, Deep Sea Squid, Prawns, Vegetables and Fruit all together in one metal stick. So cool.

Just sit back and relax. Staff will assist you with the cooking. They grilled the meat and seafood part by part, portion it accordingly onto plates. Our favourite goes to Grilled Squid and Premium Pork Shoulder. Love the charred aroma lacing around the squid for the former; and tender, juicy munch for the later.

If eating only meat sounds too ordinary for you, then grab a piece of fresh green, wrap in grilled meat, get it flavoured up with kimchi and condiment sauce served along.

Omaya Pavilion KL

Thanks to Omaya staff for paying full attention to the grilled egg, we’ve got superbly done egg as side dish. Pudding soft, jacketed with paper thin crispy outer layer. A big difference to the over-grilled, harden egg that we end up with when grilling it on our own.

Omaya Pavilion KL

Honey Mustard Boneless Chicken Cubes (served with French Fries) RM30

Honey Mustard Boneless Chicken Cubes – Our favourite among all. Chunks of chicken deep fried to golden brown, shielding juicy meat underneath crispy outer layer. Further coated with pleasing thick sauce that delivers pleasing sweetness, plus very light spicy kick. Great on its own, superb when roll them with cheese.

Omaya Pavilion KL

Try to be quick in coating all chicken with cheese before it turns cold and harden.

Creamy, gooey sensation that is so irresistable. Sorry waistline and calories, we’ll run harder on the threadmill.

Omaya Pavilion KL

Watermelon Soju Cocktail RM36.90

Omaya Pavilion KL

Complement our meal with Watermelon Soju Cocktail. Watermelon is halved and hollowed, filled with watermelon juice and mini fresh watermelon cubes, then pour in whole bottle of soju! Certainly a great companion with BBQ grilled meat. Other alcoholic drink options include Berry Flavoured Beer, Cherry Flavoured Beer, Mango Flavoured Beer, Honey Makgeoli and Soju.

Omaya Pavilion KL

Cotton Cheese Fizzy Drink RM9.90

If you are not into alcoholic drink, opt for their gimmicky Cotton Cheese Fizzy Drink in various flavours- orange mango, orange passionfruit yougurt, passionfruit pineapple and bluberry grape. Only RM9.90 for this refreshing carbonated drink, crowned with fluffy sweet cotton candy.

Omaya Pavilion KL

Rainbow Slush RM11.90

Rainbow Slush, another colourful drinks in Omaya. Kids will like this. Bring home the stylish drink bottle if you loved to!

Overall review: Our dining experience in Omaya Pavilion KL is great. Thoughtfully designed environment, friendly staffs and nice food. Our top pick – Honey Mustard Boneless Chicken Cubes and Watermelon Soju Cocktail. Plan to check out Busan Giant Seafood Platter in next visit hehe.
