This April, Element Kuala Lumpur by Westin, the latest eco-friendly hotel in Kuala Lumpur City Centre invites all wine enthusiasts for a 6-course wine pairing dinner at TRACE Restaurant & Bar – the hotel’s sky dining venue that proudly located 40 floors above the ground, offering a spectacular view from high up.
Available from 9 April till 13 May 2018, Element Hotel Kuala Lumpur Wine Pairing Dinner features Italian wine from MAZZEI, specially picked to be paired with different courses from the menu.
Kick started with amuse bouche. Smooth and creamy cauliflower mousse enhanced with freshness from citrus gelee and passion drop, filled in a mini glass. A healthy, clean-in-taste vege-base mousse to begin the meal.
Fresh seafood paste and chunky tonic water poached prawn rolled into ping pong size morsel, coated with bread crumbs and deep fried to have a crunchy exterior, bounciness filled within. Recommended.
Parmesan Consomme with Cheese Espuma, a rather light broth that warms up the tummy comfortably, yet not overly fill you up despite being cheese-infused. Taste the mini cheese tortellini immersed within, and here you go, a fuller cheese flavours slowly develops in the palate, contrasting the soup lightness.

Foie Gras came next, adding a luxury touch to our wine pairing dinner. Smooth and buttery earthiness, finished with paper-thin charred glory from pan-sear. Served in poached rhubarb, pear compote, quince jus.
Cleanse the palate with Sorbet, Green Apple Granite before proceeded to main course.
48hr Braised Angus Short Rib, our favourite that evening.
Slow cook process break the meat down to fork-tender bites, moist but not tough. Flavours further lifted by beef au jus, just nice and not overpowered. Sided with baby carrot, charred onion and seasonal greens.

End the meal sweet with Manjari Emulsion Twist – a dessert that beautifully assemble together chocolate soil, crushed sable and Murray River pink salt caramel. Sweet treat like a piece of art, we like. Pleasant to look at, taste good too with the myriad of textures!
