You might not know that, the birthplace of Jungle Bird – a classic tiki-style cocktail, is actually in Kuala Lumpur!
On 6 July 1973, at the former Hilton Kuala Lumpur (Kuala Lumpur Hilton) on Jalan Sultan Ismail, the Jungle Bird was born when the beverage manager Mr Jeffrey Ong ,was tasked to create a welcome drink for guests. The cocktail then gained international acclaim when it was first listed on ‘The New American Bartender’s Guide’ in 1989. Today, the Jungle Bird can be found on cocktail bar menus around the world and even has several bars named after it.
To recognise and celebrate Hilton Kuala Lumpur’s signature drink, Aviary Bar proudly presents the Jungle Bird Series, a flight of unique rum-based cocktails with an enthralling twist. Starting from RM40 nett per cocktail, the menu includes the renowned Original Jungle Bird, followed by Jackfruit Jungle Bird, American Jungle Bird, Morning Bird and Mexican Jungle Bird.

Original Jungle Bird RM40, a drink that stays true to its 1973 recipe combining a medley of Jamaican rum, Campari, lime and pineapple juice along with simple syrup for an irresistibly fresh concoction. While the Jackfruit Jungle Bird RM60 comprises jackfruit and thyme-infused Campari, Jamaican Dark Rum, fresh pineapple juice, served with hints of doughnut syrup and lime squeeze.

American Jungle Bird RM60 is made with Makers Mark Whiskey, Aperol, egg white and pineapple juice; Morning Bird RM60 consists of the usual suspects, pineapple puree but with a twist of grapefruit juice and curry leaf with a hint of coffee;
and lastly Mexican Jungle Bird RM60, which includes Olmeca Gold Tequila paired with herb-infused Aperol for a kick.

Complement these signature Jungle Bird cocktails with light bites like Chamber’s Angus Beef Sliders, Crispy Duck Spring Rolls, Amritsar Fish Tacos and Mini Pan-fried Crab Cakes, Grilled Lamb in Betel Leafs, Mini Pan Fried Crab Cakes, Smoked BBQ Chicken Drummettes. Price capped at RM30, with menu changes every quarter.
We highly recommend Angus Beef Sliders- beautifully seared, juicy beef patty layered with smoked duck, onion marmalade, lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise within Beetroof Soft Bun. Staff told us that it was prepared by Chamber’s Grill – Hilton KL’s restaurant that takes pride in quality grilled meat and Western delights. The burger is soooooo good you must-try.
