Comida @ Solaris Dutamas [CLOSE DOWN]

March 26, 2012 by summerkid_summergirl

“Comida”, means food in Spanish. And this name is now an Italian cuisine restaurant with simple and affordable dining environment in Solaris Sutamas.
Started by former Fly FM DJ Basil Joseph and his partner, Sindi in year 2010, this restaurant offers customers with a long list of comfort food from salads, tapas, soups, pizzas, paella, pasta, risotto, burgers, steaks to many other delicacies. Also, not forgetting their drinks which is also another pleasure to pair with their delicious food. Last Thursday, I got the chance sampled a few dishes from Comida. The meal started off with tapas to mains and finally ended with a dessert.
Tapas:
Sauteed Mushrooms ( RM11.00)
This dish is interesting. It consists of fresh shitake mushroom, button mushoom, and oyster mushroom sauteed together with garlic and butter. Simple and tasty dish full of flavor.
Prawn and Aubergine (RM16.00)
Prawn and aubergine sauteed with garlic, sliced yellow onions and homemade Plancha sauce. The prawns are succulent and aubergine is baby soft, and the slightly spicy gravy really trigger up my appetite. Having only the prawns and aubergine while leaving the fantastic gravy alone is such a waste  Hence, this starter comes with a serving of bread for sauce dipping.
After two servings of tapas, here comes the mains.
Pizza lovers will be happy with a wide variety of pizza choices in Comida such as Napoletana, Hawaiian, Vegetarian, BBQ Chicken, Margherita and Seafood Especiale pizza. I found the Smoked Salmon and Egg pizza on the menu a rather interesting combination but too bad I didn’t get to taste it that night. Pizzas comes in three choices of size which are 8″, 12″ and 24″.
Peppershrooms Pizza ( 8″- RM21.30, 12″-RM31.90, 24″-RM63.80)
Pepperhrooms, an abbreviations for pepperoni plus mushrooms ? =D
This pizza has thin crust pizza topped with beef pepperoni, peppers, mushrooms, onions and olives, Mozarella, Homemade pizza sauce and olive oil.
Pesto Rocket Chicken ( 8″- RM21.95, 12″-RM32.90, 24″-RM65.80)
Pesto Rocket Chicken has pizza base loaded with chicken, onions, homemade pesto sauce, olive oil and rocket leaves. I used to have rocket leaves in my salad but now on a pizza, with delicious chicken. Bravo.
Stagioni Pizza ( 8″- RM21.70, 12″-RM32.50, 24″-RM65.00)
Stagioni Pizza allows you to taste four different flavour in a pizza and also represents the 4 season in Italy. The pizza comes with Beef Peppperoni, Turkey Ham, Mushrooms and Olives served with Melted Mozarella Cheese.
Hell’s Pizza ( 8″- RM19.20, 12″- RM28.80, 24″- 57.60)
One of the signatures pizza in Comida. Tuck into this pizza loaded with beef pepperoni, jalapenos, chilli flakes, mozerella, homemade sauce and olive oil and I am sure that you’ll get hooked on it.
BBQ Chicken Pizza ( 8″-RM19.30, 12″ – RM28.90, 24″-RM57.80)
BBQ chicken pizza might be the most common pizza to catch your heart in the list, but the taste is equally good. Sink into the succelent chicken, BBQ sauce, onions, mozarella, homemade pizza sauce and olive oil toppings pizza, you might have your perception changed. It is so delicious.
Creamy Pesto Prawn Pasta ( RM27.00)
This plate of al dente pasta is sauteed with homemade pesto sauce, olive oil , and beautifully done with generous amount of big and fresh tiger prawns that will surely makes prawn lovers get excited over it. The sauce, is rich and creamy but not cloying, coated just well with every strand of the pasta.
I found that most of the sauces in Comida are homemade, which proves their sincerity in preparing the food and of course, freshness guaranteed. I like.
Cheese burger ( RM19.00)
A heavy loaded burger with 200g  juicy beef patty, iceberg lettuce, sliced tomato, melted cheeder cheese layered within Comida’s homemade buns and served with 3/8 skin on Straight Cut Fries. Weight management? Not now. =p
Comida burger (RM21.00)
The highly recommended burger in Comida. Besides having 200g of beef patty and iceberg lettuce, this burger has sauteed mushroom instead of cheese or bacon. Also served with 3/8 skin on Straight Cut Fries.
Bacon Burger (RM20.00)
Another choice of burger with 200g beef patty, iceberg lettuce, sliced tomato, beef bacon in between homemade buns, served also with 3/8 skin on Straight Cut Fries. This burger is similiar to the Cheese burger, but added with bacon.
Not having enough layers for your burger? You can always add mushrooms (RM4), egg(RM3), bacon(RM4) and cheese(RM3) to add an extra kick into your burger.  Also, for those who prefers a healthier meal, you can always request to replace your fries with salad without any extra charges.
Comida De Postre (RM12.00)
Baked puff with Hazelnut chocolate filling peanut butter and vanilla ice cream. Just nice to end the meal beautifully.
Creme Brulee (RM9.00)
A classic dessert with homemade custard and a caramalized sugar top.
Latte (RM6.00)
Virgin Mojito (RM9.00)
A glass with lime, mint and brown sugar muddled and shaken.
