Burger, you call it as fast food.
We used to get them from renowned fast food chains, putting a “processed food, fatty and unhealthy” tagline to  it. Now, as people are getting more health conscious, healthy elements are implemented even in this so called unhealthy food. Although still not healthy in full, it is worth mentioned for their effort in making burger the healthier way- the charcoal bun, beetroot bun, fresh patty, and so on. You may claim that as marketing strategy, but burger is no longer crowned only in famous fast food chain but started to mushroom in many newly born individual burger cafe. The fever is sweeping, the list of different burger chains are growing, the creativity is moving, with the latest burger restaurant landed in Setapak- Smashies Burger.

Housed at the same row with Tea Garden, In House Cafe and Tong Pak Fu, Smashies Burger is  easy to be spotted from its big, catchy yellowish shop sign. Opened in early of April, Smashies Burger is still in the soft launching period, and opened only from 6.00pm till 11.30pm everyday. However they may be some changes on their business hours in future, which is a great news for residents, students and those working nearby. We were there to check out their burger last Sunday, and glad to find that they were having good business.

With some burger chains special for their bun, some famous for sauces, while some highlight on their patty, so how about Smashies Burger? Well, they are special for both buns and patties. Making a twist from the normal white bun, Smashies Burger has five types of buns- black for charcoal, red for yeast, green for pandan, yellow for lentils, orange for orange of course. Colourful but no colouring, all from natural ingredients. As for the patties, Smashies Burger uses the method-SMASH in making their patties, which helps to lock the flavours and juiciness, and this is how the shop name Smashies came from too!
IMG_4451eHappy Cow (RM16.99)
Among the first to discover is the Happy Cow- Orange bun, single beef patty, single cheese, caramelised onion with crispy beef bacon. Smashies prepare their own patty freshly, 2 hours before they opened for bussiness everyday, so there is no worry on unfresh patties. And they don’t keep their patties overnight.
IMG_4457eAnnoying Orange (RM18.99)
Another huge burger that is crammed with fillings- single beef patty, cheese, hashbrown and sunny side up, topped over with crispy beef bacon before sandwiching with two orange fluffy bun. You may claim that the price is slightly higher, but considering that Australian chilled beef is used, freshly prepare into thick and juicy patty with minimal seasoning of only salt, pepper and garlic, ingredients loaded between the bun, it still worth the price overall.

Pretty Patty (RM15.49)
For those who don’t take beef, they do have chicken patty. Pretty Patty is prettily layers with hash brown, sunny side up, chicken patty, and a slice of cheese within orange bun. Counting the layer, we know the calories, but still, we fails to resist the sinfully delicious flavours. The Power of a truly satisfying burger, indeed. After taking the whole, we console ourselves saying that: the bun is very healthy.

Chicken Run (RM12.49)
Between the black bun, you get thick and crispy deep fried chicken smoothered with tartar sauce and special hot sauce, pairing with pineapple to tone down the greasiness. Sourish, sweet and savoury combination, but all marry well together. Chicken breast is used -healthy, tasty and lean. A little lack of juiciness but not totally dry and tough though.

You have shroom (RM15.99)
One of the very few veggie burgers you can find here, with single grilled portbello, cheese, caramalised onion and hashbrown sandwiched within two red bun. Seems pale for its meatless but the juicy and hearty portbello mushroom is actually so good to even keep a carnivorous eater satisfies.

Cajun Spuiced Fries (RM6.99)
A burger is never complete with some fresh cut fries. Awesome.
Still thinking what to have for dinner? Is time to smash your heart away with their colourful smashies burger today!
