We had been talking about this shop for few times, and at last, we made a trip there last Saturday. The exact name should be: Butter + Beans at Seventeen. A name that can be easily remembered, and also easily mixed up, as what happened to us.

Butter + Beans is managed by a group of young people who are friendly and having deep enthusiasm in coffee. This shop specialized in coffee, bread and pastries, so these few things are the only choices you can get here. No burger, no spaghetti, no salad etc.

But still, they manage to draw a lot customers. Conclusion: It is not necessary to have a wide spread of food to keep your business at brisk, focus on the speciality can make your business a success too. During our visit there, we kept seeing new customers visiting, one after another left. Good sign.

Flat White (RM9.00)
Milky, smooth and very soothing throughout the whole cuppa.

Cappucino (RM9.00)
Velvety smooth with light bitterness, just the way the boy like it to be.

Chocolate Pistachio Danish (RM5.00)
Crispy, flaky pufff generously filled with rich, creamy melted chocolate and chunks of crushed pistachio. We opened the mouth big to get mouthful of pastry and chocolate together for full satisfaction. One is never enough.

Plain Croissant (RM4.00)
The croissant was good too, crispy outer layer with soft, buttery and airy texture within. The boy liked it so much that he bought another two back home for supper munch.

Apricot Danish (RM5.00)
The girl on the other hand, liked the Apricot Danish more. Soft pastry layered with custard cream and crowned with halved apricot. She happily bite into her favourite apricot and ended up with super sour expression. Yeap, the apricot was packed with juiciness, but with intense sourishness as well. But it complemented perfectly with the sweet custard and buttery pastry, so they were best eaten together.

We didn’t stay there for long, for the weather was hot and we were sitting outdoor. Everything was good there. Just one downside: The shop is really small and can barely occupy more than 10 pax for indoor. With such a good business, perhaps the owner should consider to expand the shop into a more spacious one? =)
