Family Dim Sum Brunch @ The Emperor, Grand Dorsett Subang Hotel

May 21, 2013 by summerkid_summergirl

For mummies and daddies who want to have brunch together with no worries on Sundays and Public Holidays but won’t be able to as they have small kids to take care of while taking brunch, now they do not have to worry on this anymore, when dining in The Emperor Grand Dorsett Subang.

The Emperor, an award wining HALAL restaurant in this 5 star urban hotel now has a Kid’s Corner during the brunch buffet dim sum. Definitely a good news to mums and dads, as kids will have fun doing activities such as sand art craft, colouring, games, cartoon channels, clown entertainment and many more while parents can enjoy arrays of tantalizing dim sum comfortably.

The brunch is priced at RM60.00++ for adult and RM30.00++ for child belowe 12 years old, available during Sundays and Public Holidays from 10.00am-2.30pm. Kids below 5 years old can dine for free while Senior Citizens above 60 enjoy 50% off the price. For every 10 paying guest, one will dine for free.

We had our brunch there last Sunday, lots of steamed items to choose from: Steamed Prawn Dumpling, Steamed Siew Mai Emperor Style, Steamed Seaweed Roll, Steamed Phoenix Feet With Black Bean, Steamed Chicken Wings, Steamed Fish Ball, etc.

We liked the Steamed Prawn Dumpling, silky skin with plump and bouncy prawns filling. Steamed chicken wings were good too, tender chicken gracefully coated with thick garlicky gravy.

For the Char Siew Pau, we didn’t put much expectation on it, as we always like to have fatty pork fillings in it. But to our surprise, replacement of pork with chicken fillings in this char siew pau doesn’t make it fall short of taste. It is so delicious, so flavourful, thanks to the well done savoury sauce which is packed with oomph. Perception changed, we don’t mind putting this together with the normal char siew pau.

For the baked and deep fried items, one can get deep fried prawn rolls with cheese, deep fried yam puff with barbeque chicken, deep fried ham sui kok, deep fried chive and shrimps dumpling, baked mini egg tart custard, baked century egg with pickled ginger in puff pastry and deep fried sesame ball.
We love how the Deep Fried Yam Puff with Barbeque Chicken being prepared, very nice and crispy outer layer followed by soft and creamy yam paste, nestled with piping hot bbq sauce minced chicken fillings. Yums.

We thought of skipping the fried noodles, as it seems cold and dry, very unappealing. Luckily we didn’t, as it tasted quite good actually, stirred fried to just right, stringy enough with medium wok hei.

Too many choices, we already had lot, but still, there’s a lot we didn’t get to try out, such as Char Siew Chicken Meat Cheong Fun and Dried Shrimps & Sprin Onion Cheong Fun…

We ended the meal with fruits, pudding, gui leng gou, longan sweet soup, etc from the dessert counter. Choices are not extensive but everything is good, especially love the longan sweet soup that helps to tone down the greasiness. Cheese cake and chocolate cake are the only cakes available, with the later highly recommended for its very chocolaty and moist texture.
