Stepping into the S.E.A. aquarium, we got immersed in the magical marine world, with more than 800 marine animals seen through the planet’s largest window to the ocean. Manta rays, enormous goliath grouper, napoleon wrasse, moray eel, and other gentle giants of the sea, all unfold in front of us.

-Strait of Karimata & Java Sea-
Just at the entrance, we ventured through the fascinating world beneath the Straits of Karimata, located on the lower-eastern side of Sumatra.

In front the huge sea window that has monumental shipwreck with a splintered hull, we learnt that shipwrecks has somehow shaped the world beneath the seas. From once a tool to carry treasures across the sea, it has evolved into harbouring marine life treasures.

-Strait of Malacca and Andaman Sea-
Go on a wondrous underwater journey through the Strait of Malacca and the Andaman Sea where fascinating ‘magnified’ encounters with marine life await.

Coral Garden, a superb nice cylindrical aquarium which you can’t missed.

-Bay of Bengal & Laccadive Sea-
Continued to Bay of Bengal & Lccadive Sea, where we discovered the mysteries of the Sundarbans Mangrove, home to a myriad of endangered plants and animals found along the coast of the Bay of Bengal.

We were fascinated at all the mangrove inhabitants such as mudskippers, spotted scats, archerfish and silver batfish. All these habitants used the extensive network of mangrove tree roots as nesting and nursery areas.

Around the corner, spy on curious spotted garden eels popping in and out of their sand burrows and “find Nemo” as well as reef lobsters, white-rayed antenna gobies, long-nose hawkfish and other jewels of the Coral Reef.

Further along lied the Patch Reef of Brain Corals and majestic Staghorn Corals, leading to a reef drop similar to those found in the Laccadive Sea, teeming with unique fish species such as the queen angelfish, yellowface angelfish, imperator angelfish and others.
-Ocean Journey-
As we made our way further into the ocean, we came face-to-face with our indo-pacific bottlenose dolphins. Learn the surprising facts about these speedy swimmers as they enthrall you with their underwater grace and prowess.
IMG_9913e
Nearby, you will lost yourself in the world of synchronised fish. Few marine scenes are more intriguing and hypnotic than a school of fish swimming in unison. In an instant, the school changes direction with none of the fish colliding into one another.

We also checked out the cool marine life in the Cold Water habitats such as giant spider crab, chambered nautilus and other unique species.

Summerkid’s favourite stop- the colourful jellyfish. He defined them as “Oh-so-cute”, while Summergirl claimed them as “cute your head, so scary”.

IMG_9950e

The girl was certainly clueless on how can jellyfish be CUTE, but Summerkid was drown in the electrifying pulsating dances of the translucent sea jelly species like the trailing long-tentacled lion’s mane sea jelly, the captivating neon blue sea jelly and the larger-than-life moon sea jelly. The girl just stood far far away. =.=

-Open Ocean-
The route led us to Open Ocean which made us stunned, jaw opened. It was really a big aquarium that brought us closer to more diverse collection of marine life.
IMG_9958e
Gentle giant of the sea including leopard shark, goliath grouper, saw fish, mahi mahi and a never-seen-before squadron of magnificent manta rays.  They move swiftly, creating poetry motion in perfect unison.
IMG_9961e
While we thought the Open Ocean would be the last stop, there are more to go. There’s still Persian GUlf & Arabian Sea, Red Sea, East Africa, South China Sea, Shark Sea before the sea journey ended, this place was really, really big!
IMG_3747e
The next few stations were random wandering, as we were feeling exhauted. At Persian Gulf & Arabian Sea, we encountered schools of glistening sweeper and silver batfish. Also found were colourful living colonies like broomtail wrasse, purple tang and yellowband reef fish.
IMG_9963e
Watched in wonder as warm-water fish like fairy basslet, yellow boxfish, orange striped triggerfish, fire shrimp and long-horned cowfish swim amongst sea fans and coral colonies.

The journey to S.E.A aquarium with 10 zones in 49 habitats left us head spinning. Haha, too many fishes and marine lifes!  A must go in Sentosa to enjoy the endless wonders of our blue planet.
