51 Restaurant and Bar @ Changkat Bukit Bintang

March 27, 2014 by summerkid_summergirl

51 Restaurant and Bar, a new born in Changkat Bukit Bintang with less than one year old. The restaurant took over the location of former Carne Y Vino Restaurant and Bar at the ground floor of Radius Internation Hotel, went through a facelift and revamped of menu, and finally opens to the public in May 2013.

The restaurant boasts a modern contemporary interior, having wooden floorings to theme up with walnut colour furnitures. Hanging from the ceiling are pendant lamp shades that beautifully light up the environment with warm hue lights to create a calm, cozy feeling.51-restaurant-and-bar-changkat-bukit-bintang

51 Restaurant and Bar aims to provide an Oasis for people who love great service, rocking live band, good food and relaxed ambience to mingle, hence leading to their tagline of “Munch, Music and Mingle” that practically sums up what the restaurant is more than ready to offer.

Black Pepper Rib Eye on Toast RM18.00
For food, a wide variety of “munchies”, or small bites are available. In fact, most of our dishes that night focused on snacks that could be slowly nibbled on while enjoying with cocktail. We started off with Black Pepper Rib Eye on toast, an Asian inspired starter that have chunks of beef tossed with black pepper glaze, leading to a spicy kick that balance up well by the toasted baguette.

Salmon Bites Wrapped with Roti Canai RM15.00
We tucked in this with a WOW! Call this Salmon Bites Wrapped with Roti Canai- a different way of serving salmon? Or a different way of serving roti canai? Doesn’t matter as it is definitely a new way of enjoying these two famous treats, with local favourite enveloping salmon fish and creamy Dill sauce to reach for a chunky, chewy concoction.

Island Scallops RM25.00
We like the Pan Fried Seared Scallop with Pineapple Tequila Compote, as tropical fruit has been chosen to enhance the overall flavours of this precious ocean treat. Bouncy and juicy aside, the scallop goes well with the sauce that renders a pleasant fruitiness with thickened sweetness.

Ceasars Boat RM12.00
Ceasars boat in 51 Restaurant and Bar is like salad in a salad. A small piece of Romaine lettuce is used as a “mini boat” and filled up with more chopped Romaine lettuce, croutons, cherry tomatoes, beef bacon and house made salad within the curve of “boat”. Easier to indulge in.

Beef Tacos RM15.00
Beef  Tacos serves to be the most filling starter we had that night, but there was no problem in finishing them, seeing that it tasted good as others. The soft flour tacos was brimming with fillings combining grilled prime beef, guacamole, refried beans and sour cream. A myriad of flavours and textures due to the varieties of ingredients, and we especially like the guacamole that adds on a creamy, mushy sensation within succulent munch of beef.

Chicken and Beef Skewers RM18.00
Continue on with something smoky, robust in flavour. This starter comes with a stick of chicken and beef skewer each, which is less than enough as every munch is so tender, flavorful that we ask for more after finishing all.

CAABA Black Angus Beef Sirloin RM52/250g, RM70/300g
Coming to mains, CAABA Black Angus Beef was first served. A nicely done beef that didn’t disappoint us, medium rare throughout. Glazed over with sauté mushroom and black pepper sauce for extra flavours.

Norwegian Salmon Fillet RM38.00
A pairing of soft sautéed spinach with hearty portion of salmon which, served with a creamy lemon, dill and caper sauce.

Grilled New Zealand Rack of Lamb RM48.00
New Zealand Rack of Lamb is not shadowed too. Smoky with a slightly charred surface, the lamb rack is at its minimal gaminess, moistened with layers of fat. Served with mashed potatoes and mint salsa sauce.

51 Waffles RM12.00
We tried out three desserts in 51 restaurant & bar. The 51 waffles is Summergirl’s favourite, having freshly made waffles topped over with New Zealand Natural premium ice cream and berry compote. Slightly crunchy outer layer that brings a contrast with the spongy soft inside is the winning point.

Creme Brulée RM15.00
Creme Brulee wasn’t the best we have tried before, but still decent for the subtly soft texture, and a room for improvement for the smoothness. Infused with vanilla flavour, garnished with whipped cream and cherry.

Chocolate Lava RM16.00
Chocolate Lava is the best among all, and also a highly recommended dessert at 51 restaurant & bar. Served warm, the chocolate cake was oozed with creamy melted chocolate once cutting through, thickly coated to the moist, spongy chocolate cake. Have it with vanilla ice cream, this hot and cold combination ends the meal with a perfect sweet note.
