Jarrod & Rawlins @ Jalan Bangkung, Bangsar, KL

Jarrod and Rawlins has always prides for their full English breakfast, sausages, bacon sandwiches, steaks, salads and pasta dishes which are well loved by the expat, as well as Malaysian community. The restaurant is better known as J&R, and currently having four outlets in Malaysia- Ampang KL, Damansara Heights KL, Jalan Bangkung KL and Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

Even though Jarrod and Rawlins has developed from bistro deli into gastropub concept, and being awarded as Best Pub Grub by Time Out Malaysia, the restaurant still continues to serves comfort food for casual dining from breakfast till dinner, apart from a wide selection of  wine.

J&R’s Special “The Full Works” RM38.60
Breakfast menu is separated into two sections, one for Weekday Breakfast which is served all day, while another Weekend Brunch Menu which is available from 8.30am till 3.00pm on weekend. J&R’s Special “The Full Works” is one of the best big breakfast in town, available on both weekend and weekday breakfast menu, featuring hearty serving  of two eggs sunny side up with sausages, bacon, grilled tomato, mushrooms, baked beans, hash browns, toasted bread. Served with coffee or tea and orange juice.

We highly recommended diners to pay an additional RM5 for black pudding. Though named pudding, it doesn’t really taste like a pudding. Instead, it is a little crumbly, moist and dense, savoury with nutty bites. Taste pretty good. We were told that this black pudding is made up of pig’s blood, together with secret ingredients by J&R.

J&R’s Egg Benedict Indulgence RM31.90
Go for the J&R’s Egg Benedict Indulgence if you visited the restaurant on weekend brunch time. Their egg benedict comes in just right portion with wonderful taste. Two soft poached eggs sits on smoked salmon over toasted bread, drizzle with homemade Hollandaise sauce. Can replace smoked salmon with bacon or black pudding depends on your liking. You gonna love the rich, runny and buttery smoothness combination. Served with coffee or tea and orange juice.

J&R’s Signature Crab Cake RM29.40
For dinner, do not leave the restaurant without trying their J&R Signature Crab Cake. Made from 100% crab meat and deep fried to golden brown, the cake is crisp outside, brimming with juiciness inside. Laid on a bed of  spicy tomato salasa and rocket salad for a tangy twist.

Cheese Platter RM24.00

Jarrod’s and Rawlins has something for cheese lover, namely the Cheese Platter. Red wine goats cheese, cheddar and Picon blue, with dried apricots, crackers and Branstn pickle, all beautifully served on a wooden board. Vegetarian friendly.

J&R Speical Spicy Pasta RM27.30
Make a skip to your usual carbonara, marinara and aglio olio base pasta and switch to this J&R Special Spicy Pasta, the pasta that bring a cross between Western and local. The pasta is inspired from dry chilli pan mee, having spaghetti generously showered with bacon, mushrooms, leeks and fried anchioves. Topped with a soft poached egg and served with a side of crisp chilli. Tossed everything together (*including crispy chilli of course) and enjoy the creamy, crispy, smoky, al-dente concoction with a mild touch of spiciness. A familiar taste in a different way. Oh-so-good. Highly recommended.

Hickory baby Back Ribs Half slab RM48, full slab RM78

Another must try in Jarrods and Rawlins, best for sharing. The baby back ribs focuses more on the original sweetness of the meat, so you don’t get sloppy sauce smothered over to flavour up the ribs. Meat is tenderly soft with charred sensation, just perfect. Served with baked potato & coleslaw.

Masala Lamb Skewers & Garlic Butter Paratha RM31.50
Tuck in Masala Lamb Skewers on its own, or wrap it into Garlic Butter Paratha together with rocket salad, onion and spicy cucumber raita. We find the later taste better, as it draws more flavours and texture. Tortilla lends chewy bites while balances the distinct spices of  lamb skewers, plus a refreshing touch from cucumber raita.
