Spacious interior, painted in white with wooden floorings, marble tables with rattan chairs, bits and everything here may place a misconception to public that Western cuisines take the limelight in In Colonial Restaurant KL.  However, Oriental cuisines with modern twist actually shine through the restaurant’s menu, all delicately prepare by the impeccable chefs.

From 30th June till 27th July 2014, book yourself and your loves one a place at In Colonial Restaurant KL for their Ramadhan buffet 2014 which is priced at RM88++ per adult, RM48++ per child. Selections are not as extensive as in hotels’ restaurants,  but rest assured, every dish here is finely selected to satisfy your palate. Not the usual Rendang Chicken, Ayam Masak Merah or Gulai Ikan, so make sure you are here to discover.

Mango Prawn Rolls芒果沙律蝦

Begin the meal with Starter of Lemongrass Chicken Meatballs, Fried Wantan and Mango Prawn Rolls. Mango Prawn Rolls goes into our top picks, featuring a perfect match of juicy mango and bouncy prawns within crispy breaded outer layer. Lemongrass Chicken Meatballs are not shadowed to, placing chicken meatballs in a more eye-pleasing way and adds a touch of fragrance from lemongrass.

Satay Lamb Skewers 沙爹羊肉串

While Chicken Satay serves to be the most familiar flavour we come across for satay, In Colonial goes further by offering Beef Satay and Lamb Satay into buffet list. Lamb satay proudly pass with flying colours, succulent in every munch with minimal gamey taste. Chicken satay may be better if jucier, but the sticky sweet coating earns marks.

Black Pepper Ribeye 黑椒牛肉
Beef dishes in In Colonial gained our liking ever since we tried on their Rib Eye & Veggies during first visit. This time, their Black Pepper Rib Eye continues to receive double thumbs up from guests, be it texture or pairing flavours. Impeccable dish that lands a tenderly soft meat in the palate, coupled with flavour laden black pepper sauce.

Scallion Chicken Chop 蔥燒雞扒

Scallion Chicken Chop comes close to the Dark Soy Sauce Chicken mummy used to cook at home, but finer in taste. Dark and glossy in appearance, dotted with thin layer of sauce that escalates the flavour of chicken, which has already deeply infused with marination goodness.

Lemon Fish Fillet 檸檬魚片
It is more appetizing that we expected. Extra sourish and lemony, the sauce draws a very sharp flavour that whet up the taste bud, best to go with a bowl of white rice.

Hot & Sour Prawns 酸辣蝦

in-colonial-restaurant-ramadhan-buffet-intermark-kuala-lumpur

Can’t decide if we should define the Hot & Sour Prawns as Western or Oriental dish, as it seems to infuse with both. The rich, creamy and tomato-ish gravy owns the shadow of Chilli Crab’s sauce, but distinguish itself with umami sweetness from fresh prawns.

Crispy Lamb Rack 香酥羊架
Can’t disagree if In Colonial Restaurant was being acclaimed as one of the Best Ramadhan Buffets 2014 in town. It definitely fares differently from other Ramadhan buffets – Roasted Whole Lamb or Grilled Lamb are generally available in most buffets, but not this Crispy Lamb Rack by In Colonial. Marinated with fermented beancurd and deep fried to result in incredibly crunchy, salty sides, followed by flavourful meaty bites with layer of fat for moisture balance.

In short, In Colonial Restaurant Intermark Kuala Lumpur is one of our highly recommended place not just for Ramadhan Buffet, but also for all day dining. We see the kitchen’s chefs’ patience in preparing good food with a modern touch while maintaining the  local, traditional essence.
