Made a stop to Verve Shops at Mont Kiara, the latest mall that comes up together with Verve Suites. Very quiet currently, occupied by just convenient shop and few restaurants including B-Lab, La casa and Podgy & The Banker+.
Seeing that our visit to Podgy and The Banker at sri Hartamas previously was more than satisfying, we picked Podgy & The Banker+, the new establishment by the same team as our weekend coffee hang out destination.
Podgy & The Banker+, which is two doors away from La casa, houses a more spacious space than their first premise. Diners can choose to sit at their al-fresco area, or chill at indoors.
Design is sleek and simple with shiny concrete floorings, coupled with walls painted in white; wooden tables complemented by chairs of the similar tone for balanced charm;French windows allow ample of natural lights to flow through during day time; adorable light bulbs hanging from ceiling, exuding warm yellow light. Clean overall yet not lack of details such as potted plants, glass bottles, books, wall racks, etc. to exude a more cozy, homey atmosphere.
Coffee is still the highlights in Podgy & The Banker+ plus but due to intolerance to caffeine recently, we skipped straight to hot chocolate and matcha latte.
Matcha Latte RM10
Preference wise, Summergirl still loves green tea latte at Secawan n’ Such in Penang and Pretz n’ Beanz at Mont Kiara. Can’t really compare as they are of different base, where matcha tends to be more bitter and robust in taste. So Podgy and The Banker+ version is considered decent- pronounced in bitterness, just thinner in milkiness.
Hot Chocolate RM10.00
Hot chocolate is rich, intensed with chocolaty. Not too bad but again, Feeka Coffee Roaster is by far our favourite for hot chocolate.
Food selection in Podgy & The Banker+ is limited to only four types of sandwiches- Siracha steak (RM18.00), Pesto Mayo Grilled chicken (RM18.00), Sour cream salmon (RM18.00), Korean Chilli Lamb (RM20), accompanied by breads, cakes and pies.
Our Siracha Steak is mediocre, sandwiching medley of flavours and texture by having sweetness of caramelised onion, spiciness of siracha sauce, juiciness of tomato, and chewiness of sliced steak within two slices of crisp at the edge, fluffy soft center toasted bread .
A little expensive, taste not up to par if were to compare with Podgy and The Banker at Sri Hartamas. Steak could be less chewy and rubbery, spiciness could be toned down to achieve better flavour.
Our visit at Podgy & The Banker+ is still great, thanks to the less busy, more calm nviroment. Food wise, we look forward to more savoury selections on their menu when the business operations are stable down.
