Bandits Coffee Bar @ Bukit Damansara KL : Coffee and Smores Brownies

Glad that more noteworthy cafes are blooming up in the month of April. Bandits Coffee Bar at Plaza Damansara, Bukit Damansara KL joins the wave, opening up on 7th April, merely less than a week old. Come for their coffee, as Bandits Coffee Bar promises decent caffeine dose; stay for their cakes, desserts and pastries, perhaps adds on proper savoury dish from the simple yet more than satisfying breakfast /brunch menu.

Located next to Wheatfield Bakery,  there is currently no shop sign for Bandits Coffee Bar. Just look for a corner lot beside this famous bakery & cafe, two doors away from El Cerdo. If you come from the main road and spotted a long row of shop houses which accommodate also Jarrods & Rawlins, A Li Yaa, Public Bank, etc. you are almost there.

Bandits Coffee Bar is minimal in decor at its first glance, having textures and layers of the interior portrayed on concrete walls for rustic touch, kopitiam marble tabletop for old-school feeling, contrasting with black colour chairs in bold, rainbow tone cushion. Stylish, modern, clean looking, space-emphasized cafe that is truly welcoming. Lots of natural light flows in during daytime too.

But wait, look up and you’ll find Bandits Coffee Bar actually get their detailed decorations up at the ceilings, amazing though.

Hot Chocolate

Summerkid always has intolerance to coffee, be it black coffee or milk added like latte, cappuccino and flat white, but OK all the time with mocha. Chocolate does the job we guess. Bandits Coffee Bar is kind enough to tell us their current blend doesn’t come perfect with chocolate, so we are suggested to have hot chocolate instead. Glad that it’s really good. Rich, milky, balanced with intense chocolaty.

Flat White

Coffee takes the lead in Bandits Coffee Bar, but you can also get a varieties of interesting tea priced at RM10 per sachet, hot water refillable. Straits Chai (Sumatran tea with Oriental Spices), Marrakesh Mint (Green Tea with Mint & Lemongrass), White Gingerlily (Peony, Galangal Root & Lemongrass), Nymph of the Nile (Peony, Persian Rose & Basil), Hanami (Japanese Sencha with Cherry Blossom).

Poached Eggs & Beef Bacon (RM14)

 Food wise, it is good enough to cater diners from breakfast till lunch, ranging from Poached Eggs & Beef Bacon (RM14), Coconut, Cinammon & Banana French Toast (RM14), Lamb Steak Sandwich (RM18), Posh Beans & Mushroom on Toast (RM13), Quinoa with Beetroot, Pumpkin & Feta Cheese, Big Breakfast Platter (RM18), just to name a few.

Pricing in Bandits Coffee Bar Cafe is considered reasonable, where we believe many cafes and restaurants will charge more than RM20 for the same portion size. Our Poached Eggs & Beef Bacon are good, towering up with toasted bread, saute mushroom, large pieces of beef bacon and two poach eggs.  Hmm..Can we add some spinach?

S’mores Brownies

Bandits Coffee Bar Cafe has their cakes, pastries and dessert supplied by some of the homebakers, such as Baked by Lisa from Mont Kiara KL – Lamingtons, S’mores Brownies, Mars Bars Slice, Rasberry Coconut Slice, and more ; The Accidental Bakes from Sri Hartamas – Snickers Tart, Chai Tiramisu, Salted Gula Melaka Butterscotch Cheesecake, so on and so on; plus some other extra sweet treat from humble bakers.

S’more Brownies tastes rather sweet to us, not a brownie that can be eaten on its own but definitely pairs well with coffee and tea to tune down the sugar content. Crumbly, sweet at the base + dense, rich chocolate cake at the center + burnt, mellow soft marshmallow at the top!

Comments: Service is more than friendly at Bandits Coffee Bar (*Summergirl gives 10/10). Coffee is great at no doubt, thanks to Bandits Coffee Bar experienced, enthusiastic barista team. Parking can be difficult even on weekends, so suggest to go early. Crowd in the cafe is hard to determine, as it can be full house suddenly, and half empty in the next hour. Nevertheless, it is still one of the best coffee places in KL that you can lay back and relax, enjoy your coffee slowly. Remember to hashtag #banditscoffeebar. =D
