D’Workshop Cafe and Bar @ Menara CKE, Cheras KL : Workshop-style Cafe

Visited D’workshop Coffee and Bar at Menara CKE, a hidden cafe in Cheras Kuala Lumpur that we discovered after missing the route to another restaurant. Located next to PappaRich, D’Workshop welcomed us with an unexpectedly quiet scene, spacious environment but only one table occupied on a Sunday afternoon.

Garage tools are moderately installed at every nook and cranny of D’Workshop Coffee & Bar, making the cafe lives up to its name. Yet, not overwhelmed so the interior can further fits into a balance with its modern, stylish industrial like design.

Concrete floorings; bulb lamps hanging from dark-coloured ceilings; walls made up of ceiling-to-floor glass bordered with black window frames, washed white exposed brick walls and textured concrete walls for raw, rustic touch in whole.

Ample of seatings available in both indoor and outdoor of D’Workshop Cafe. While we prefer staying indoor as it is air-conditioned, the outdoor area which is sectioned by unique “steel chain curtain”, provides better lighting, more windy during morning time.

D’Workshop claims itself as a cafe, bar, burger restaurant, but the menu offers more than just burgers, as we trace also a long list of sandwiches, pasta, big breakfast, egg benedict, small bites as well as complete main course such as grilled rib-eye steak, roasted chicken, grilled lamb shoulder, grilled salmon, just to name a few. Definitely ideal as a place for simple brunch and teatime, or wholesome lunch and dinner. D’Workshop opens from 11AM through 1AM, hence no worries if you wish to stop by late for your caffeine fix. They have alcoholic drinks too.

Caffe Mocha RM10.90/ 3PM-6PM D’Workshop Cafe Teatime Set (Cake + Coffee RM15.90)

Interestingly, D’Workshop Cafe names their food selection after the terms for workshop’s tools and accessories, for instance: STARTER KIT for Breakfast Set, ACCESSORIES for light snacks, COOLANT for cold drinks, LUBRICANTS for hot drinks, SUPERCHARGER for main course.

Green Tea Latte RM10.90
Glad that we visited at the right time, which is between 3PM and 6PM to enjoy their Special Teatime Set. Diners can enjoy one hot coffee/tea with a slice of cake for only RM15.90! Good deal, because they offer this on weekends too. Normally cafes’ Teatime Set is limited to black coffee, but D’Workshop Coffee is generous for allowing us to have our cake with milk coffee like mocha, latte, cappuccino, etc., they say OK even to green tea latte.

Tiramisu RM10.90

For desserts or cakes, choose from Chocolate Peanut Butter Mille Crepe, Mango Peach Mille Crepe, Tiramisu, Green Tea Cake, Red Velvet Cake, Marble Cheese Cake, Mocha Cheese Cake. Priced from RM10.90 to RM14.90 per slice if you ordered separately.

Comments: Coffee and cakes aren’t exceptionally outstanding, but decent enough to satisfy your cravings. We personally felt the green tea latte is great, milky throughout with pleasant aroma and flavours of green tea in every sip. Service is good too. Food wise, we are yet to try out their burgers.
