Mochu Locco Zakka Cafe @ Taman Bukit Segar, Cheras KL

Mochu Locco Zakka Cafe, a charming lifestyle coffee place in Cheras KL with a long name that we could hardly remember. Their zakka-style decoration raise our attention initially, but it is the signature purple sweet potato latte and delicious homemade cakes that make us want to pay a visit.

Located along Jalan Bukit Segar 9 at Taman Bukit Segar, you will have not luck to trace down Mochu Locco Zakka Cafe if you only look for shops at the ground floor. The cafe is hiddenly located at the highest floor above a saloon. Search for the standing chalkboard of Mochu Locco Zakka Cafe along the corridor and follow the sign to 3rd floor.

It was a busy afternoon for Mochu Locco Zakka Cafe when we pushed the door in. The cafe is more spacious than we expected, sectioned into two sides. The inner area is lighten up with hue yellow light, walls stacked up with bricks painted in white, long strech of tables and chairs which were almost fully occupied.

To the left of the counter is a more sunny space, with ample of lights flowing in during daytime. Large windows with wooden table closely mounted over, where patrons can relax while overlooking the blue sky and neighbourhood nearby; sofa with coffee tables; as well as side dining tables. Mochu Locco Zakka Cafe menu is simple, covering mostly bevarage like coffee, tea, smoothie, juice, milk, flower tea and light food such as plain croissant, egg mayo croissant, baked eggs, vegan sesame bagel, mini scone, yougurt parfait, etc..

Purple Sweet Potato Latte RM10

We skip our usual caffeine-fix of cappuccino and go for the house speciality which you rarely find elsewhere in KL and PJ- Purple Sweet Potato Latte. The latte is filled in a cute, curved shape mug placed over small, wooden saucer. Can’t tell how much we love the way our drinks being served. We would say that Mochu Locco Zakka Cafe purple sweet potato latte fares a unique healthy taste, not something that will earn our liking at the first sip, but meant to be savoured slowly.

We could barely taste any sweetness initially because we drank too fast. Mochu barista uses real purple sweet potato to incorporate natural sweetness instead of artificial sugar. Tip: Don’t drink too fast, else you will only taste milk. So we drink it slow, and gradually enjoy the aroma of sweet potato in our plate, blending well with the frothed milk. Take the adorable wooden spoon and discover purple sweet potato cubes laid at the bottom.

Opera Green Tea Milk Crepe

Desserts is the cafe’s highlight too. Check out promising cake selections at the dessert counter, from best seller Tofu-fah Cheese Cake to lovely Black Sesame Tofu Cheese Cake, Opera Green Tea Milk Crepe, Salted Caramel Mille Crepe, Tiramisu with Caramelized Almond, Lemon Meringue Tart and Mochu Locco Zakka Premium Baked of the day.

Comment: A good place for cakes and coffee. Service is fine but not exceptionally warmth, perhaps due to the crowd. Zakka product lovers can purchase some cute notebooks, kitchenwares, and hand-crafted item from the mini Zakka-store in the cafe.
