Fresh seafood takes the lead here, from crowd-favourite crabs to prawns, yabbies, mussels, Japanese snails, baby octopus, and the menu list continues. etc.. Some of you might ask, what’s so special about seafood in Crab Factory when you can easily order a plate of crab in any Chinese Seafood Restaurant. Yes, it’s true. Kam Heong Crab, Steamed Soy Sauce Crab, Butter Crab, Chilli Crab, Sweet & Sour Crab, ample of flavours offered in traditional seafood restaurant, but hang on, definitely not – Louisiana Seafood Boil, the cooking method in Crab Factory.
Jamba-Jamba 500g Prawn with Sausages RM76
Seafood boil is a traditional practice in Louisiana, the state located in the Southern region of United States. The Cajuns have Crab Boil in backyards and parks, where they will cook shrimp, crab and crawfish with seasoning, then spread all cooked food on newspaper covered table and start eating with hands.
Garlic Butter 500g Mussels with Potato & Enoki Mushroom RM32
Original Louisiana Boil is done the same way back in Crab Factory Malaysia. But instead of newspaper, they replace with clean, white plastic sheets. Cooked seafood are packed in plastic bag and served. Diners can choose to eat directly from the bag, or pour everything out on the table and start digging it. No plates, no cutleries, no exquisite fine dining plating and all you have is to get your hands dirty. Despite so, the finger-licking good experience turns to be one of the keys that makes Crab Factory worth a mention.
Live Brown Crab
Food ordering in Crab Factory is pretty simple:
STEP 1: Browse through the seafood list on board (daily market price beside each item) – King Crab, Lobster, Slipper Lobster, Yabbies, Crabs, Amaebi, Freshwater Prawns, Prawns,Japanese Snails, Baby Octopurs, Mussels, Scallops, +special seafood of the day.
STEP 2: Choose your sauce. (Normal non-spicy sauces) Zesty Lemon, Garlic Butter, (Spicy Sauces) Jamba-Jamba and Signature Southern Bang. In case you want to drown your seafood galore with more spicy kick, go to higher level of spiciness – mild > medium > Oly Crab (add RM5) > Death Valley (add RM5). For reference, medium is like eating curry. Oly Crab is close to eating chili paddy. Death Valley? Understand from the name.
STEP 3: Add on 2 side dishes as bag buddies of your seafood. Choice 1 – Potatoes OR Corn. Choice 2 – Chicken Sausages OR King Mushrooms, Enoki Mushrooms OR Button Mushrooms. Additional Bag Buddies are charged with price as stated on Crab Factory menu.
DONE! Now wear on the apron specially prepard by Crab Factory ( So that your shirts don’t get stained with sauces) and wait for your food!
If you were too hungry, have ” Something on the Side” like Fries, Wedges, Garlic Bread, Southern Coleslaw, Gumbo, Fried Southern Chicken Wings, Southern Chicken & Waffle. For us, we had our first time trying on Gumbo, a Southern Heart-warming Soup in medium thick consistency, immerses with sausage, cubed vegetables, prawns and rice. Heavy, strong-flavoured and filling stew, suggest to order for sharing so that your tummy keeps space for more seafood.

Don’t be disappointed if you couldn’t make it to the teatime, as you still can have BIG BANG THEORY for dinner, which is also a good deal. This super giant seafood spread can fit 10-12 pax, putting together 500g prawns, 500gm mussels, 500g yabbies, 6 pieces chicken sausages, 1pc King Crab, 500g fresh water prawns, 2pcs M-size meat crabs, 16 pcs potatoes, 6 pcs corn, button mushroooms, all boiled in Crab Factory special 11 herbs and spices broth. RM945 may seems whopping expensive at the first glance but try counting item per item in ala-carte price, it worth . Come in group, and make sure to carry a BIG appetite!
Southern Bang (Oly Crab Spicy) 500g Yabbies with King Mushroom RM113
To sum up, each item we sampled during our visit to Crab Factory is no doubt fresh. For non-spicy kids friendly sauce, we like Garlic Butter the most. A good milky, creamy, garlicky match. For the spicy sauce, diners should order considerately. For us, Medium Spicy is just nice, while for Oly Crab Spicy Sauce, it tasted good initially and we said: Not bad, still can handle. However as we continued to dig in, tongue numbing is the result. Hence, for general tastebud, we suggest to stay in Level 2, so that you enjoy both the spiciness clinging on the seafood, as well as natural sweetness delivered from them. Price wise, the total bill is definitely not cheap, surely more expensive than your normal dinner but consider the quality and is fresh seafood, it worth every penny you pay for.
