Kingstreet Cafe @ Taman Seputeh, KL: When Coffee Meets Furnitures

Kingstreet Cafe at Plaza Perabot Seputeh, Taman Seputeh KL – a cafe with off-beaten-track location, away from Damansara or Bangsar area crowded with coffee places but considerably strategic, as it is just about 5 minutes drive from Mid Valley Megamall. A quick brunch in Kingstreet Cafe before weekend shopping is quite a good idea though.

Of course, neighbourhood from Taman Seputeh can save the travel miles for caffeine-fix, seeing that Kingstreet Cafe nearby already serves decent coffee. Plus, by now, home designers and customers who are in the midst of renovating their houses begin to like the existence of Kingstreet Cafe, as they have a place to sit down and have conversation over home furnishing, drafting home decoration ideas, and so forth after browsing through furnitures from shops within the building.

With an European-style shop facade, you may already want to start snapping pictures before even entering Kingstreet Cafe. Asides from the photography-worthy outer look, we especially like the al-fresco area that draws a cozy, holiday-like atmosphere to unwind. Indoor dining space highlights more comfy ambience; spacious; and put together ample of ornaments at corners to flourish the space.

Loin Cheese Croissant RM18

Menu is straight forward – food name with simple description printed on “Kingstreet Times”, all reasonably priced below RM25. Enjoy breakfast like Jam & Butter Toast (RM8), British Double Egg (RM15), Morning Bird Plate (RM14), Cheese Lover’s Omelette (RM18), Kingstreet Big Breakfast (RM28), Smoked Salmon Croissant (RM22) and Loin Cheese Croissant (RM18), till 3PM daily.

We had a tried on their Loin Cheese Croissant, a light selection that sandwiches smoked duck slices, melted cheese, crispy beef bacon bits within halved croissant. Sided with corn bowl and salad. We like the filling, but sadly, the croissant was a bit too dry for our liking, lack of moist and buttery goodness. We were told that Kingstreet Cafe is still in the process of fine tuning their menu, including source of bread. Looking forward to better combination in future.

For all day mains, diners can go for Grilled Chicken Slices over Moroccon-inspired Rice (RM18), Turkey Bacon Carbonara Spaghetti (RM22), Honey Glazed Barbeque Chicken (RM22), Smoked Lamb Cranberry Sausages (RM22), Fish & Chips (RM22). Chicken Spinach Leek, Mushroom Truffle, Smoked Duck and Guinness Beef on handmade open pies are available too.

Toast-gasm RM15

We skipped straight to dessert, ordering Toast-gasm which looks promising from Instagram feeds. Toasted brioche, drizzled and torched in gula melaka, topped over with pandan ice cream. Still can’t beat the brioche toast we had in Huckleberry Damansara Heights, but definitely a worth trying dish in Kingstreet Cafe. The moments of tucking into crispy, buttery outer layer, followed by fluffy texture, helmed with sweetness from gula melaka, was so satisfying. Oh ya, not to forget the special pandan ice cream that added local touch to the toast.

 Cappuccino RM9.90

Coffee is a must-have here, prepared using Kingstreet Cafe houseblend (Columbia, Brazil, Mandheling) roasted by a reputable local roaster in Kepong. Aside from normal white and black, you can also try out Indonesia Tobing Estate West Java Single Origin and Indonesia South Sulawesi Toraja Single Origin from their Daily Black pour over coffee section.

Green Detoxifier RM12.90

Non-caffeine beverages are limited here, but it is recommended to try out their fresh juices. 3 choices at the moment: Yellow Booster (orange, lemon carrot), Red Energizer (beetroo, red apple, carrot, lemon) and Green Detoxifier (guava, green apple, lemon).

Thanks to the cafe for this Christmas dessert treat – Digestive biscuits, vanilla ice cream, pop corn, chocolate  & caramel sauce. Scoop and eat all together for best flavours. Eating them separately is not as good. Don’t say we no tell hahahaha.
