The Prince Restaurant 1Mont Kiara KL

The Prince Restaurant 1Mont Kiara KL

Walked into The Prince Chinese Restaurant in 1Mont Kiara KL for dinner after a long day at work last week, our mood was instantly cheered up tucking into wide arrays of delicious comfort food served by the restaurant.

The Prince Restaurant 1Mont Kiara KL steamed dumpling

Shanghainese Steamed Dumpling 上海蒸餃子 RM6.80

From individual ala-carte selection to sharing main courses, dim sum, soup and desserts, choices on The Prince menu are sufficient for quick lunch, small group dining, family gathering as well as event function. Had a sudden craving for dim sum that night, so we started our meal with two dim sum –  Shanghainese Steamed Dumpling and Steamed Melting Custard & Salted Egg Yolk Cream Pau.

The Prince Restaurant 1Mont Kiara KL custard salted egg yolk pau

Steamed Melting Custard & Salted Egg Yolk Cream Pau RM5.90

Both were good. Dumpling for the savoury, better when dipping with ginger vinegar sauce; bun for the sweet, heaped with creamy custardy and aroma from salted egg yolk.

The Prince Restaurant 1Mont Kiara KL chicken soup

Double Boiled Soup with Chicken and Herbs in Whole Coconut 椰子藥材燉雞湯 RM16.90

Continued with Doubled Boiled Soup with Chicken and Herbs in Whole Coconut. A nourishing, tummy warming soup uniquely infused with coconut flavour, at the same time combining herbal essence and sweetness released from chicken meat.

The Prince Restaurant 1Mont Kiara KL fried salt eggplant

Crispy Fried Salt & Pepper Eggplant tossed with Chicken Floss 鹽燒肉松茄子 RM9.90

Crispy Fried Salt & Pepper Eggplant tossed with Chicken Floss is something great to munch on while waiting for hot main dishes to arrive. Pretty addictive with salty crunchy exterior, chewy soft interior of eggplant, further binding in chewy sweet chicken floss.

The Prince Restaurant 1Mont Kiara KL stir fried beef

Stir-Fried Australian Beef Tenderloin & Shimeiji Mushroom with Homemade Sauce 松菇澳洲牛仔粒 RM35.90

Our favourite dish in The Prince Restaurant. Premium tender Australian beef tenderloin chunks, thickly coated with peppery homemade sauce. Flavourful, great with a bowl of white rice.

The Prince Restaurant 1Mont Kiara KL sweet and sour pork

Sweet & Sour Pork 咕嚕肉 RM22.90

Sweet & Sour Pork is the all-time-favourite in most Chinese restaurant, same goes to The Prince. Both children and adult love this. Polished clean the whole plate in a jiffy.

The Prince Restaurant 1Mont Kiara KL beancurd

Braised Homemade Beancurd with Mushroom & Vegetable in Claypot 雜蔬豆腐煲 RM18.90

The Prince Restaurant 1Mont Kiara KL sausage fried rice

Chinese Sausage Fried Rice 臘味超飯 RM15.90

Didn’t put much expectation on this Chinese Sausage Fried Rice initially, as it looked nothing more like just a plate of “lap mei fan”. However we were totally wrong, it was a real good fried rice, loaded with wok hei, plus chopped Chinese sausage to magically heighten up the entire flavours and texture! Highly recommended.

The Prince Restaurant 1Mont Kiara KL fried kailan

Deep Fried Kailan Leaves 雙味芥蘭 RM19.90

Dual tastes, dual texture in one plate. Simple stir-fried kailan with sliced garlic on one side, complete with shredded leaves deep fried on the other side. Of course, we enjoyed the crispy deep fried version kailan more.

The Prince Restaurant 1Mont Kiara KL fried prawns with salted egg yolk

Stir Fried Prawns with Salted Egg Yolk 鹹蛋炒蝦 RM33.90

Salted egg yolk is always good with everything, from seafood to poultry and even in bread and desserts, proves from the hype you can see from some of the cafes in KL. We stay to the more classic version – Stir Fried Prawns with Salted Egg Yolk. Yummy salted egg yolk outer layer, wrapping juicy, bouncy prawns within.

Satisfying dinner but we were too full to check out their dessert, like the sweet soup. Perhaps you can try and let us know during your visit to The Prince Restaurant KL.
