N Seoul Tower & Namsan Park @ Seoul, South Korea

N Seoul Tower has always been an iconic landmark in Seoul South Korea, proudly stands on Namsan Mountain as one of the most visited tourist attractions and filming location for TV shows besides being an integrated transmission tower. Its popularity is raised, once again, after Korean drama My Love from The Star.

With its 237 metre height, N Seoul Tower has the highest viewpoint in Seoul. Back then, it was named as Seoul Tower. In 2005, it was given a new look, new lighting and new colour scheme, hence renamed in N Seoul Tower, where the “N” represents “New” to fit the changes.

It is very easy to reach N Seoul Tower by taking Seoul subway. Align at Myeongdong station Exit 4, you will see Paris Baguette Bakery Shop on your left. We bought few breads and coffee here as breakfast, so the 10-15minutes walk will seem shorter with something to munch on LOL. From there, walk straight and keep left when you reach a cross junction. Continue to walk for like 10 minutes, following the direction of N Seoul Tower far in front of you. Keep right when you see a slope, just walk on flat land for 2 more minutes. You will finally reach a lift, which bring you to cable car center.

Just follow the signboard which indicates the counter to purchase ticket, and where to queue for cable car boarding point. Round-trip cost 8500won per person, 6000won for one way ticket.

You can also reach Namsan Park by shuttle bus too.

Roof Terrace “Locks of Love”

Just follow the crowd once you leave the cable car. Climb some staircases to reach a photogenic attraction on the way to N Seoul Tower. Thousands of colourful padlocks attached all over the fence, written with wishes of couple. Lock your love here, signifying hand-in-hand forever. You can write yours too.

Namsan Park, the largest park in Seoul is a popular picnic spot for locals, especially during weekend. We saw many families and friends gather together, eat and happily chit chat all the way. Some even are held here too.

Namsan Park offers a great view of Seoul city too. But we had not-so-pleasant experience here. The story goes so: Summergirl wanted to take photo at one of the spots. Then one ajumma came over, stood beside her and waved her away, started to take photos at her spot. Summergirl was like: “???????”

So she moved over to the other side, trying to get some photos of Seoul city. Seconds later, another ajumma came over (walao eh… again?) , asked Summergirl to go away with “fierce look”. And ajumma began taking photos there. Summergirl: “…………..”

There’s plenty of space next to her, or to say there was whole stretch of empty space along the platform. Why must she insisted to stand at that spot? Better view? Maybe. We know that we should respect the elders, and our friend told us that this is their culture, but we really felt unpleasant with such action.  Nevermind, is OK.

Namsan Bongsudae (Beacon Tower)

We were lucky to experience free Hanbok at Nam San Tower. Reservation time is 11AM-12.15PM. By the time we left the place, the booth was already gone to no where.

Namsan Park Pavilion

N Seoul Tower

Going high up to a building for fascinating view of a city has always been our “travel ritual” but not sure why, the urge to go up N Seoul Tower observatory was not there for this time. Probably mood was already spoiled by the two ajumma (s).  We went down for lunch after that at Wangbijib Myeongdong, spoiling ourself with delicious Korean BBQ Set Meal.

For those who plan to go up N Seoul Tower (Admission ticket 10,000won for 360 degree viewing point, 10AM-11PM daily), you can also visit Alive Museum – a trick-eye museum that showcases 45 pieces of artwork with optical illusion, created from interactive painting styles.
