PS Tokyo Cafe SS2 PJ: Matcha Soft Serve or Calpico Soft Serve?

April 22, 2016 by summerkid_summergirl

PS Tokyo Cafe SS2 PJ

By the day we stepped into PS Tokyo SS2, it was already over 6 months from their opening date. Being dessert lovers, it is considered fairly late for us to visit this famous dessert cafe after uncountable praises from the public on their soft serve – particularly the Japanese matcha and hojicha flavours.

But, better late than never.

Here we are on a Sunday afternoon, escaping from the scorching hot sun with their classic and new favourite. PS Tokyo is actually a local independent brand, showering their love of Japan with one of the most-loved sweet treat in town. The cafe started humbly, but managed to catch public attention by word of mouth, together with the power of social media sharing of course. The hype has already slowed down by now but still, their soft serve is undoubtedly delicious.

Besides soft serve ice cream, PS Tokyo SS2 menu covers cakes selection including Tofu Cheese Cake, Matcha Milk Chocolate Cake, Rosy Mango Cake, Salted Matcha Pie, Chocolate Brownie, Black and White Sesame Cake, price from RM13.90. For soft serve, PS Tokyo focuses on 3 signature items- original milk, matcha and hojicha, RM6.90 for mini and RM9.90 for standard (NEW ! Calpico soft serve mini RM8.90!). Patrons who wish to have more textures to go with their softserve can opt for Hojicha Parfait, Matcha Parfait, Soft Serve + toppings.

PS Tokyo Cafe SS2 PJ matcha mini

Had a try on Matcha Mini, made using premium ingredients imported from Uji, Kyoto ( Summergirl ‘s favourite town! ). Not as rich compared to Tsujiri Malaysia Uptown Damansara, but a good balance between milkiness and matcha bitterness, plus a touch of sweetness to make it a soft serve that is friendly to the palate. Asking which is better, we would say that both fare differently. For those who love their ice cream deeply infused with matcha, go for Tsujiri. For lighter, smoother, easy-to-eat matcha soft serve, PS Tokyo has it right.

Now this is cool – Berry Calpico Parfait. Something interesting on PS Tokyo latest menu, available only for limited time. And so we wonder how this non-carbonated milk drink will taste like when incorporting into soft serve? Milky, mild sweetness, hints of tangy twist.

Another thing we like about PS Tokyo is the choice of soft serve – mini or standard size. By far we don’t see any cafes in KL and PJ having small size soft serve yet, except PS Tokyo. A great idea as we can try more flavours at the same time even if we visited the cafe in two. Two of us can easily finish three minis even just after heavy lunch.

Do not forget to have instant-print Instagram photos for FREE! What you need to do is just take a photo in PS Tokyo, hashtag #pstokyo , check in location and post in Instagram. The record will be sent to the printer automatically and within minutes, fresh-out-from-the-printer photos are ready! A minor gesture that makes our trip to PS Tokyo more worthwhile, with photos to be kept as memories.
