There will be three rotation menu for Shangri-La Putrajaya Ramadhan Buffet 2016. During the preview dinner, we started healthy with Assorted Seasonal Mixed Garden Salad, putting together fresh vegetables such as cherry tomato, lettuce, purple cabbage, sliced spring onion with dressing like Thousand Island Sauce and Curry Mayonaise.

There’s also Pre Mixed Salad – Coleslaw Salad, Grilled Chicken Salad with Pineapple and Capsicum, Thai Glass Noodle Salad, Urap Kacang Panjang with Dried Shrimp and Rojak Singapore. Of course, not to forget, our local favourite Ulam-ulaman that goes well with either Sambal Belacan, Sambal Tempoyak, and Cili Kicap.

Fried Salted Kurau, Salted Egg, Ikan Pekasam, Fried Salted Gelama Fish with Chilli & Onion also join as part of the Local Salad Condiements in Putrajaya Shangri-La Ramadhan Buffet. And as usual, they have Kerepek Ubi Kayu, Kerepek Pisangm Keropok Ikan and Keropok Pedas, which are crackers we love munching on with sweet chilli dipping sauce.

Soup Station – Mushroom Soup, Thai Seafood Tom Yam Soup and Bubur Lambuk Daging.

Moving on, we had wide array of Malay cuisines as hot dishes. Nasi Parpu, Chicken Pulao Rice, Nasi Parpu, Lamb Korma, Ayam Masak Kicap Berempah, Masak Lemak Labu Besama Daun Kunyit, Sotong Goreng Tepung, Braised Broccoli with Mushroom & Oyster Sauce, Marinated Thyme Roast Beef with Mushroom Sauce, Pan Seared Seabass with Lemon Butter Sauce, Gratinated Potato and Stire Fried New Zealand Mussels with Black Pepper & Capsicum.

Nasi Lemak Kukus Bersame Puyuh Goreng Berempah. Now this is something different. By far, we don’t see this in other Ramadhan buffets we had joined. Freshly deep fried at one of the Ramadhan buffet stalls, you will be glad to tuck into this pipping hot, flavourful Puyuh Goreng.

BBQ Station! Our favourite corner in this Ramadhan buffet! It is outdoor, so make sure to make your way there following the directed sign. Everything here is good! From the must-have Whole Roasted Lamb to Grilled Minute Steak, Grilled Lamb Shoulder, Grilled Chicken Percik, Grilled Lamb Shish Kebab, Grilled Chicken Tikka, Otak-otak, Grilled Fish Tikka, none of this disappoint.

Grilled Chicken Percik is highly recommended. Instead of brushing the chicken with the usual sweet sauce, Putrajaya Shangri-La ‘s version is towards spicy, helmed with spices goodness. Like a cross between sauce-less curry chicken and grilled version of ayam berempah. Summergirl’s second favourite goes to Grilled Fish Tikka, while Summerkid enjoyed Grilled Lamb Shoulder.

tak tak

Apart from these familiar BBQ selections, the highlight of this Iftar BBQ Buffet is a dish named Taka Tak. It is actually a well-known dish in Lahore, Pakistan, made from chicken or lamb, stir-fried together with tomato, coriander leave and spices. This special dish is prepared by Chef Zahid Mahmood, the Speciality Chef of Putrajaya Shangri-La who came from Pakistan. Hence, diners get to savour the most authentic Taka Tak. It is best eaten with Nan Bread freshly made in-house. Surprisingly, this humble staple turned out to be one of the best food among all. Served piping hot, with light crisp at the outside, followed by pleasing chewiness.

Last but not least, dessert. Occupying a large section, these sweet treats can almost become the “centerpiece” in Putrajaya Shangri-La Ramadhan buffet. Ommali, Pengat Pisang, Chocolate Pudding, Crushed Ice Kacang with Condiments, Choux Passion, Mango Delight Cake, Tiramisu Cake, Orang Mousse, Kiwi Mousse, Banana Strudel, Portugese Egg Tart, Passion Creme Brulee, Kuih Lapis, Kuih Sago and the list goes on. We couldn’t help but to save some stomach space to try out some of them. Ya, choices were ample hence we didn’t get to try all. Tiramisu Cake is our favourite!
