KomPassion Thai Fusion Food @ Damansara Kim PJ

August 22, 2016 by summerkid_summergirl

KomPassion at Damansara Kim continues to stand strong as one of the best non-halal Thai fusion restaurants in Klang Valley despite the amount of Thai eateries surfaces in town these few years, be it Thai street food cafe, Thai fine dining or Thai casual. Entering the third years, compliments from both new and returning customers over their delicious modern Thai food, are still on-going.

The restaurant keeps their menu short and simple, pictures-free but you know you will be getting good stuff. The two pages menu, listing down sufficient selections of starters, salads, curries, tom yum, KomPassion specials, daily set lunch and homemade desserts.

Pork Satay RM17.90

park satay

Had our dinner in KomPassion Damansara Kim few weeks back, sampled few of their signature dishes. Started with pork satay, 5 sticks in total, placed in a glass bottom with a bed of panang curry with chopped cashew nuts. A great substitution to usual chunky peanut sauce. Diners can also dip the satay with special green curry sauce served aside, for a tangy, spicy twist that opens up the appetite.

KomPassion Thai deep fried portk

Deep Fried Pork with Lime Leaf RM25

You may need a pint of beer to go with this. Crispy with lots of chews, laced with faint hints of lime leaf aroma.

KomPassion Thai Fusion salad

Pucuk Paku Salad with Young Coconut RM20

Tossing up paku- pakis, onions, tomato, toasted almond flakes, young coconut, crab meat floss, desiccated coconut in chili lime base dressing, this unique concoction surprisingly turned out to be our favourite of that night. Refreshing, plenty of textures.

KomPassion Thai poached fish with butter

Poached Fish with Butter RM50

A dish substantial as an individual main course. Two poached fish fillets, graciously absorbed with asam pedas sauce dressed over. Flavours further elevated with from apple salad topped over, having refreshing, juicy crunch cutting through within spicy, sourish munch. What’s more, we discovered avocado in the bed of asam sauce, and never thought it tastes so nice in this Asian gravy.

KomPassion Thai grilled pork ribs

Special Grilled Pork Ribs RM50

pork ribs

Finger-licking good pork ribs that yield a tender meatiness, thickly coated with smoky sweet Thai BBQ sauce. Half a dozen in this platter, Summerkid polished clean 3 of them, leaving 1 each for us in a table of four hahaha.

KomPassion Thai pork curry

Hang Laey Pork Curry RM35

Apart from creative fusion Thai dishes, Kompassion kitchen also whips out traditional Thai comfort food, such as Hang Laey Curry, Green Curry, Panang Curry and Tom Yum Soup. We had a try on their Hang Laey Pork Curry, a Northern Thai rendang-style curry in thick, creamy gravy.

KomPassion Thai seafood tom yum

 Seafood Tom Yum RM38

Even though modern Thai is the main focus in KomPassion, a visit here is still incomplete without the most sought after Thai dish – tom yum soup. KomPassion ‘s version of Tom Yum emphasizes a lot of spices flavours in first few spoonful, with short spicy aftertaste. Diners can choose from Level 1 to Level 3 spiciness.

KomPassion Thai stir fried kai lan

Stir Fried Kai Lan with Garlic RM15

thai-ice-tea

Thai Iced Cofee with Milk RM13, Thai Iced Tea with Milk RM13

Coconut Smoothie RM15

Wash down with Thai Iced Coffee and Thai Iced Tea prepared from real coffee ice cubes and Thai milk tea ice cubes. Slowly sip on till the end of the meal without worrying your favourite drinks will get diluted! Other recommended drinks includes Mango Yogurt Smoothie, Coconut Smoothie, Blue Flower Sparkling and Slow Press Fruit Juice.

KomPassion Thai lime mango cheese cake

Lime Mango Cheese Cake RM10

Coming to dessert, we savoured something that you don’t find in all Thai restaurant – Lime Mango Cheese Cake ! Smooth and rich, with sweetness from mango, at the same time flavours balanced up with sharp tangy sensation from lime.

KomPassion Thai mango sticky rice

Pandan Gelato with Mango Sticky Rice RM18

Pandan Gelato with Mango Sticky Rice, a creative sweet treat that put together local flavours with Western touch in a traditional Thai dessert. Must try, but suggest to order for sharing as it can be filling.

Overall review: A friendly neighbourhood cafe with delicious Thai food in modern twist. Poached Fish Fillet with Assam Sauce, Paku Salad with Young Coconut and Pork Satay are our favourites. Do check out also Kompassion II in TTDI, which is pork free.
