Grand Harbour Restaurant: Mid-Autumn with A Taste of Red Dates

September 1, 2016 by summerkid_summergirl

Grand Harbour Restaurant Mid-Autumn 2016

Grand Harbour Dim Sum & Chinese Cuisine Restaurant 大港茶樓 welcomes mid-autumn 2016 with a new signature mooncake – Golden Emerald Dates Mooncake that showcases a touch of creativity by adding lotus red dates filling, while keeping the core essence of traditional mooncake.

Grand Harbour Restaurant Mid-Autumn 2016

Golden Emerald Dates Mooncake RM19.50

It is a baked mooncake with 3 layers of filling, encasing Chinese favourite superfood – red dates, with lotus paste & longan, followed by pandan paste and then custard at the most centre. Yes, the yellow filling is custard, which we mistakenly thought as egg yolk initially because it looks so close to the real, just more pale in colour. Taste wise, it is not too sweet, and we love how the dried longan adds bites to the thick, rich filling.

Apart from Golden Emerald Dates Mooncake, other varieties on Grand Harbour mooncake list covers White Lotus Double Yolks (RM21.50), White Lotus Single Yolk (RM20.50), Fruits Nuts Mixture (RM19.50), White Lotus Paste (RM18.50), Jade Lotus Single Yolk (RM19.50), Black Sesame with White Lotus (RM19.50), Shanghai Mooncake Single Yolk (RM19.50), Red Bean Paste (RM13.50), Snow SKin White Lotus (RM17.50), Snow Skin Yam Paste (RM16.50) and Snow Skin Red Bean (RM12.50).

To celebrates this festival further, Grand Harbour Restaurant has come up with two Special Autumn dishes, namely Deep Fried Spare Ribs with Special Red Dates Sauce and Steamed Kampung Chicken with Red Dates. Available from 5th August to 15th September 2016.

Grand Harbour Restaurant Mid-Autumn 2016

Deep Fried Spare Ribs with Special Red Dates Sauce RM8.00/ piece

Deep fried spare ribs, flavoured up with noteworthy red dates sauce. Sticky sweet & savoury, thickly coated on the meat that carried very light crisp edges, can be ordered at minimum of 3 pieces. We’re too shy in front of other diners, so we stayed to our fork and knife while eating this but to be honest, we suggest to use hands. Guarantee it will taste better, finger licking good.

Steamed Kampung Chicken with Red Dates, Black Fungus and ShaoXing Wine  RM40.00/ half chicken, RM80.00/whole chicken

Mama’ s flavours! A bed of steamed kampung chicken, flavours enhanced with swirls of Shao Xing wine and red dates. A home-cooked taste that you will hardly not liking it.

Our dinner at Grand Harbour continued with a bowl of nourishing, tummy warming soup, doubled boiled for hours with fish head, “Tian Ma” and few other types of herbs. Heard that it is good for expels winds, and treats common health problems such as headache and dizziness. Summergirl, drink more hahaha.

The first time we had Fried Glutinous Rice with Crab was a year back. And we’re glad that the restaurant still keeps up with the quality. Grand Harbour is one of the few restaurants in KL that churns out delicious glutinous rice pot- Flavourful loh mei, not too oily, infused with sweetness of crab meat for this version.
