Bean Factory, Mid Valley KL: Tou Fu Fah from Ipoh 怡保祖傳豆花

October 9, 2016 by summerkid_summergirl

Bean Factory, a soy bean specialist from Ipoh has invaded Mid Valley KL, serving delicious tau fu fah with various toppings and soy bean drink.

Despite complete with a huge tagline of 怡保祖傳豆花, we actually aren’t too sure how authentic Bean Factory is (staffs were busy so we didn’t interrupt), or whether it has any relationship with Funny Mountain or Wong Kee, the two most famous tau fu fah shop in Ipoh. But judging from the crowd when we passed by, we believe it won’t go far from being good. Plus, it is not compulsary to have decades or century-old of history to back up a nice food huh?

We’re on our way back to carpark in Mid Valley last week when we spotted this newly opened shop, one floor above GSC Cinema, near to Starbucks, beside Q Zai Eggettes. Summerkid said he was almost hungry to death, but refused to stop by at any of the restaurant for lunch as he wanted to keep his stomach space for salmon sashimi at Eatomo Food Co. Taman Desa later. Ended up packing a bowl of Tau Fu Fah from Bean Factory. Hahahaha.

A basic bowl of Bean Factory Tou Fu Fa is priced at RM5.50, and you can opt for Ginger Sugar, White Suagr, Brown Sugar or Soy Milk as syrup. Add +RM1.50 for toppings like grass jelly, red bean, sunflower seed, pumpkin seed, almond flake; +RM2.50 for pistachios, pecan and hazelnut. Something interesting to add more bites to your dou hua but we normally stick to the original.

Portion is considered generous, silky smooth soft beancurd, just right with brown sugar syrup. Just a little “heavy” and dense to the palate, not light as the 山水豆腐花 we had back in Hong Kong. Soy Milk drink is available at RM4.90 per glass, add grass jelly if you enjoy such combo.
