Soo Kee Ipoh Kai Si Hor Fun 蘇記怡保雞絲河粉 @ Seapark PJ

Soo Kee Ipoh Kai Si Hor Fun 蘇記怡保雞絲河粉

Soo Kee Gei Si Hor Fun 蘇記怡保雞絲河粉 at Seapark, Petaling Jaya earns a good reputation for their Ipoh Chicken Koay Teow Soup, but we personally also enjoy their poached chicken, beautifully dressed in oyster sauce.

Located opposite to Seapark wet market, same row with famous Hoe Fong Chicken shop, Soo Kee has been humbly churning out delicious Gei Si Hor Fun for decades. It is now running by the second generation, the son, with assist from his mother.

Soo Kee appears like a normal kopitiam, not overly crowded, no queue either but a steady stream of customers which are enough to keep the stall busy. Most patrons seem to be regulars who know the how should and what to order. There’s basically 4 items in the menu list of Soo Kee – Gei Si Hor Fun, Wantan Mee, Prawn Wantan and Poached Chicken. Have your noodles in soup or dry base.

Gei Si Hor Fun RM5.50

Smooth, slippery koay teow immersed in a bed of sweetness loaded broth, laced with prawn oil for extra flavours. Topped with shredded chicken and chives. That’s it. Nothing extraordinary but a bowl of simple, comfort food that is so good that we finished everything ( included the soup) in a jiffy.

Poached Chicken RM7.50

Despite the price, Soo Kee poached chicken is still worth an order. Velvety smooth skin, with tender meat underneath. Smoothness added with a ladle of oyster sauce. Just, the chicken was a bit cold.

Soo Kee wantan mee

Wantan Mee RM5.50

Wantan mee was clearly, shadowed by the two shiny “stars” above. Generous portion, better if the tossing sauce could be more flavourful. Read from blog reviews that Soo Kee prawn wantan is noteworthy. Just not sure why this order never arrived at our table. Maybe we did not mention clear enough on our order. We were sort of afraid to ask again, because the boss was so busy, and his cool look really scared us away. But no worry, he is kind of polite, just no smiles. Haha.

Total bill come to RM20.20, included Loh Hon Goh RM1.70. Considered pricey for the noodles, as there’s not much toppings but only awesome shredded chicken.
