Tiny Garden @ Wangsa Melawati, KL: Garden Cafe & Homestay

Tiny Garden at Wangsa Melawati, Kuala Lumpur is undoubtedly, a hidden cafe cum homestay that lives up to its name. Getting here with navigation app seems to be a must, unless you are really familiar with this neighbourhood.

The cafe is humbly located inside a normal double-storey terrace house, no shop sign. Almost no difference from any other houses along the streets. Look for a corner lot beautifully lined up with plants in colourful pots, and a small door painted in white – No.27, Jalan Wangsa Murni 7, that is Tiny Garden Cafe.

Walked down the staircases, pushed the door in and we felt like we were transported to another world in just a second! Harry Potter 9 3/4 Platform? Hahahaha. A surprise found! Not exactly spacious, surrounded by lush greenery, plenty of wooden elements, like a mini garden. We suspect the amount of plants outnumbered the total customers who can fit here. LOL.

Menu in Tiny Garden is straightforward, listing down everything on a small chalk board. Selections might change from time to time so feel free to ask what are the combinations you will get from your platter. During our visit last Sunday, Tiny Garden Breakfast, French Breakfast, Mushroom Breakfast and Hong Kong Breakfast are on the list.

French Breakfast RM18

Tried out French Breakfast which put together fresh, pipping hot French Toast, garden salad green, mushroom topped with cheese and two poached egg dressed in light Hollandaise sauce. Right portion, wholesome meal.

Mushroom Soup RM8

Never thought of ordering mushroom soup but staff told us that we should try, as this is one of their house-made special. Recommendation accepted and glad that it tasted good as told. Homey flavour, less thick in consistency comparing to some of the mushroom soup out there, but generously loaded with mushroom. Especially love the toasted baguatte in garlic butter spread served aside. Crunchy and garlicky, addictive like snack.

Confee RM15

One of the reasons that drives Summergirl to visit Tiny Garden Cafe asides from the pretty landscape – the CONFEE! Meaning coffee in cone!  Coffee filled up in cone shaped biscuit, fully coated with chocolate at the inside. Started as latte but as the chocolate slowly melts down, the beverage gradually turned into “mocha” haha. Biscuit is so nice!

Latte RM7

Coffee here is reasonable in price, mostly below RM10 but no compromise in quality. Freshly squeeze juices are available too, filled up in “light bulb”.

Overall, Tiny Garden is a lovely place that makes us slow down our busy pace, get “disconnected” from the hustle and hustle of the city for a while. No Wifi, so that customers can have better bonding time with friends and families while dining. Coffee is good, we highly recommended CONFEE. Tiny Garden is also Airbnb homestay in KL that is worth staying.

Small reminder: Mini Garden Cafe opens only on Friday (Dinner), Saturday (Breakfast & Dinner) and Sunday (Breakfast). Make sure to call for reservation earlier because space is limited. Also, be patient and understanding, as there’s only one girl managing almost everything at the front side. Ushers customers to their seats, take down orders, prepares coffee, clean up tables and answers customers question, etc. are all by her. Hopefully there’ll be more staff assisting her in near future.
