Seafood Platter with Beer at Crab Generation Cheras, KL

December 3, 2016 by summerkid_summergirl

Crab Generation 蟹的传人, the seafood specialist’s branch in Taman Len Sen, Cheras KL has moved to a larger premise to serve you better! It is just opposite to the previous location, but bigger in space, fully air-conditioned and occupying two floors to accommodate more customers!

We returned to Crab Generation last week for dinner, as we heard that the restaurant has launched a new exciting dish – seafood platter with Hoegaarden beer! Clearly an alcohol-infused dish, very much our kind of soul food. Hahahaha. The platter is priced at RM288, huge enough to share among 3-4 persons.

Flaming seafood pot sort of dish may need to step aside for a moment as bubbling beer in seafood soup takes over the crown in Crab Generation. Appealing “collection from the sea”, putting together mussels, prawns, scallops, crabs, brocolli, mushrooms, clams over a bed of seafood stock, enhanced with malty sweetness of beer.

We dig in further and scooped out cabbage, gracefully soaked up beautiful flavours of the broth. Came with a side of noodles, which you can add in for a more filling meal.

Hong Kong-style Spicy Crab / seasonal price; 港式辣椒蝦 /時价

Of course we aren’t coming just for a pot of seafood. Getting our hands dirty with Crab Generation best seller – crab, is a must. We’ve tried out few crab flavours before, including Peanut Butter Cream Crab, Marmaite Crab, Salted Egg Yolk Crab and Kam Heong Crab. So we went for Hong Kong-style Spicy Crab instead. Spicier than we expected, but addictive enough to keep us continued.

BBQ Pork Ribs/seasonal price, 萬里長骨/ 市价

BBQ Pork Ribs has a cross between char siew and braised meat. Fork tender with smoky sweet sauce coating over, fat and lean meat almost in equal. More tough at the lean part but this doesn’t matter as it was deeply flavoured too. Highly recommended dish.

Double flavours in one plate for this Japanese Snails – half in nai yao and another half in kam heong. Prefer the former more as i but suggest to eat before it gets cold.

Steamed Patin Fish with Choy Poh/seasonal price, 家乡菜莆蒸巴丁/ 市价

Choy poh, or preserved vege, a great ingredient to flavour up tofu, egg, minced meat cake, steamed fish or noodle soup dishes. You can also opt for Cincalok Fried Fish, Hot & Spicy Steamed Tiger Grouper, Hong Kong Style Steamed Pompfret.

Nice place for seafood in Cheras but always packed. Reservation is available during weekdays but for weekends, only walk-in accepted. So do come early to avoid crowds.
