Pork-Free Dining at Dynasty Restaurant, Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel

April 19, 2017 by summerkid_summergirl

Dynasty Restaurant Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel, one of the hotel restaurants in KL that we frequent most, has recently converted to pork-free dining. A brand new concept, equally exciting flavours created by award-winning Sous Chef Kok Chee Kin.

Barbecue Chicken with Glazed Honey Sauce RM40/standard, RM80/large

Dives into a wide selection of pork-free Cantonese delicacies from the revamped menu. Dim sum and ala-carte appetizer, Chinese boiled soup, seafood, poultry, vegetarian and desserts, all covered. Meat dishes are cooked in various methods – steamed, stir fried, deep fried and so forth. There is also a variety of live seafood that can be prepared according to diners’ preference, so don’t miss out.

Pan Seared Shanghai Dumplings RM13

Golden Yam Puf RM13

Had our first try on their pork-free dim sum last week, and glad that most of them were quite good. Our favourite goes to deep-fried stuffs, including Golden Yam Puff and Crispy Prawn Toast with Sesame. The former tasted lovely with creamy mashed yam shielded by a crunchy outer layer, stuffed with flavouful chicken chunks filling.

Crispy Prawn Toast with Sesame RM15

The latter was greeted with a touch of creativity, folding whole prawn into bread, dotted with sesame and deep fried to golden brown. Crunchy, burst with freshness and bounciness of prawn once biting through.

Prawn Wonton with Chili Vinaigrette RM16

Dragon Chive Dumplings RM16

Sampled few steamed dim sum too, and we personally enjoyed Prawn Wonton with Chilli Vinaigrette. Generous filling, flavoured up with spicy and sour tang that opened up our appetite. Other steamed dim sum selections include Minced Chicken Dumplings Topped with Dried Scallop RM16, Crystal Prawn Dumplings with Asparagus RM16, Crispy Fishballs with Minced Garlic RM12, Pheonix Claw in XO Sauce RM12, Green Dragon Chive Dumplings RM16, Bean Curd Rolls with Abalone Sauce RM12, and Fluffy Bun with Barbecued Chicken RM13.

If you are not sure which to order, check out from the Dim Sum Recommendation list – Dumpling Filled with Prawns & Fish Maw Simmered in Consomme, Steamed Shanghai Dumplings Simmered in Clear Soup, Steamed Bun with Custard and Wok Fried Radish Cake with Shrimp & Bean Sprouts can easily please.

Oriental Grilled Lamb with Mongolian Sauce, Sauteed Greens & Diced Mango RM65/portion

IMG_4976

Aromatic Duck Breast with Tea Leaf RM88/standard, RM128/large

Diners who are here for lunch or dinner, food such as Deep Fried Oysters, Fragrant Aromatic Duck Breast with Tea Leaf, Sea Treasure Broth with Fresh Scallops in Coconut, Wok Fried Scallops with Lily Bulbs, Asparagus & Macadamia Buts, Deep Fried Prawns with Salted Egg Yolk Sauce and Oriental Grilled Lamb with Mongolian Sauce, Sauteed Greens & Diced Mango are some of the must-have.

Deep Fried Oyster RM45/portion

Deep fried oysters served on shell, over a bed of crystal blue rocks to create sea-like feel. A thoughtful presentation that may grab our attention away from the main star a little, but is alright, good food will never be shadowed. Bite size, one at a time. Finish all 6 for one person? Easy-peasy so we suggest to order more. LOL.

IMG_4968

Baked Cod Fish Portugese Style RM88/portion

Gave the usual steamed fish a skip and had Baked Cod Fish Portugese Style, and it didn’t disappointed! Soft, buttery fish fillet dressed in a bed of Portuguese style sauce with vegetables. Mild in spiciness with sharp sourness, a dish that makes you call for a bowl of white rice.

IMG_4985

Szechuan Beancurd with Assorted Vegetables in Claypot RM45/standard, RM90/large

This may be the simplest dish among all but we don’t mind returning for this, because the chef makes the sauce right. Not to gooey, not too salty, balanced concoction from each condiments to flavour up the claypot of vegetables and Szechuan bean curd in a nice way.

Sweetened Mango Puree with Sago & Pomelo RM16/portion

Summergirl’s favourite. Sweetened mango puree with sago and pomelo sacs, crowned with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Awesome chilled dessert that ends our meal in Renaissance KL with a sweet note.
