For this week, we shoo away stress at work and visit Southern Rock Seafood at Jalan Kemuja, Bangsar KL. For those who love oysters, you should be familiar with SHUCKED Oyster Bar which has outlet in The Gardens Mall, BIG Publika and The Roof Signature. Oyster Shooter RM15/each , RM75/ half dozen

Enjoy fresh, plump and slurpy oyster its on its own with just light squeeze of lemon, Tabasco sauce; or try it in shooters and cooked. We sampled oyster with Bloody Mary shooter. Just add the oyster into a small shooter glass filled with Bloody Mary, then drink everything together. Tomato-ish with hints of spicy hot sauce aftertaste, quite interesting.

Moving to main course, we checked out SRS Breakfast, Grilled Ocean Trout, Angel Hair Mussel Laksa, Skillet Roast Whole Seabass, and Roasted Mixed Seafood. The best part — we are having this on buy 1 main course free 1 main course, thanks to The ENTERTAINER.

SRS Breakfast RM38

SRS Breakfast, is a must order. Never expect Southern Rock Seafood to serve breakfast way better than many hipster cafes in Klang Valley despite being a seafood-focused restaurant. That scrambled egg alone is enough to score huge winnings – so fluffy, creamy and moist. Hot smoked salmon, potatoes confit, roast tomatoes and portobello mushrooms sum up to a great platter.

Angel Hair Mussel Laksa RM36

We first thought that RM36 for a bowl of Angel Hair Mussel Laksa seems expensive, but no longer feel so when the dish is served. Hearty portion of noodles and mussels, graciously dressed in a bed of thick cream base sauce blended with taste of Asian – coconut-y, mildly spicy, aroma from medley of spices plus a touch of pleasing sourness that elevated the flavours. Highly Recommended.

Whole Seabass RM68/ (for 2) RM110

Tucking into flaky and tender, moisture retained fish meat with thin caramelized skin layer, we began wondering how they achieved such beautifully grilled seabass. Skills aside, we were told that the secret behind their lovely grilled fish is because they’re using BERTHA Charcoal Oven, a barbecue grill and oven specially designed for professional kitchen.

Roasted Mixed Seafood RM68

Flavours from the sea, all nestled in this hot skillet pan! Mussels, prawns, salmon, squid and fish cooked with sauce prepared from garlic, lime, chilli, and thyme. Scoop up the remaining sauce from the pan with toasted bread.

Roasted Tiger Prawns RM52

A good pan of fresh, bouncy tiger prawns in lemon and butter sauce. Nothing too complicated nor heavy gravy concoction, so that we get to savour the umami sweetness of prawns more. Again, we scoop remaining sauces with toasted bread.

Grilled Ocean Trout RM65
