New Menu at The Forum KL, Signature Suites, Desa Sri Hartamas KL

The Forum KL at The Signature, Desa Sri Hartamas carries the title of  “One of the Most Instagram-worthy Cafes in Kuala Lumpur” well ever since it opens its door to public back in 2015.

Embrace the spacious space that welcomes you with high ceiling, huge window panels in dark colour steel framing, wooden furnishing, patterned floor tiles, blooming flowers and sleek decorations item as you walk in.  It is all about modern simplicity, elegantly designed cafe ideal for almost any occasion, be it a simple brunch, friends gathering, birthday party or corporate events.

Cafe hoppers will surely be familiar with this place. They have great coffee, and Prana Chai Soy Milk Latte that is excellent in both taste and presentation. For food, all-day-breakfast, burgers, salads, soup, and Western mains take the centre stage.

Just recently, the cafe has new faces taking over but rest assured, most of the signature items on The Forum KL menu is remained, along with new Signature South East Asian selections.

Indulge into Rojak, Ayam Masak Lemak, Mee Siam, Fried Hokkien Mee, Singapore Katong Style Laksa Lemak, Mee Rebus, Nasi Goreng Forum, Spicy Lamb Cutlet and Nyonya Popiah – inspired from plethora of flavours from India, Singapore and Malaysia.

Singapore Katong Style Laksa Lemak RM30

Of all, Singapore Katong Style Laksa Lemak is their highlight. Prepared using recipe personally crafted by Mrs. Vimala Selvadurai, Singaporean-based mother to Kapila Selvadurai, owner of The Forum KL, expect a taste of authenticity in every mouthful.

Shellfish broth in beautiful orange, richly flavoured up with chilli paste and lots of grounded dried shrimp. The Forum KL uses yellow mee and meehoon instead of the classic thick vermicelli, but equally tasty as the noodles graciously soaked up with flavourful gravy. Mildly spicy, but could go lighter on the saltiness. Generously served prawns, Japanese scallops, hard boiled egg, beansprouts.

Mee Rebus RM26

In contrary to Katong Laksa, Mee Rebus is thick in consistency, light in flavour. Mildly sweet, immersed with yellow noodles, topped with potato, prawn, hard boiled egg, prawns, Japanese scallops and beansprouts.

Nasi Goreng Forum RM26

One of our favourites on The Forum KL Straits Cuisine menu. Malay style fried rice laced with wok hei, not too much, just nice to pair with the lovely flavours delivered from sambal belacan. Served with grilled chicken skewers and prawn crackers. Recommended for diners looking for rice as carb base dish.

180g of Angus Patty Rendang Burger RM29

The Forum Burger with 180g Blackmore Wagyu pattie and truffled mayonnaise could be something that The Forum KL prides at, but do check out their Rendang Burger (RM29) and The Moroccan Burger (RM28) too. Rendang Burger is especially interesting, incorporating local taste into Western delight. Stack in cucumber, peanuts, sambal and rendang sauce within your burger with 180g of Angus patty, bite deeply and enjoy “nasi lemak” in a new way.

Grilled Atlantic Salmon RM39

Grilled Atlantic Salmon may be common, but getting the fillet locked with moist instead of being over-dry need skills too. The Forum KL does it right – crispy skin layer with juicy, flaky fish meat beneath. Served with charred corn, green lentils, couscous, rocket salad, fill and lemon aioli. Summergirl’s favourite.

Oven Roasted Chicken RM30

Whole chicken leg deeply marinated with The Forum KL in-house barbeque sauce, roasted to tender perfection. Smothered with more BBQ sauce for a really smoky sweet finish. Served with roast potatoes, sauteed zucchini and carrots. Can’t go wrong with this poultry dish.

The Fisherman’s Lunch RM19

Make your “fish and chip” into a bit more comfort food style with The Fisherman’s Lunch. Flaky soft dory fish, battered and deep fried to golden brown, spread with tartar sauce then sandwiched within warm facaccia bread. Served with salt and vinegar fries.

Meatball Arrabbiatta RM28

Spaghetti tossed in Napoletana sauce. Sharp sourness from real, blended tomato but appetizing, hence finishing whole plate of this pasta on your own won’t make you feel cloying. Topped with meaty, ping pong size meatball and sprinkles of mozzarella sauce.

Forest and Field Mushroom Soup RM18

Do give The Forum KL Cafe mushroom soup a try. A real mushroom soup prepared from scratch using 3 types of mushrooms, namely portobello mushroom, shitake mushrooms and button mushrooms. Creamy with tiny bites of mushrooms, texture added with crispy croutons and truffle oil drizzles.

Forum’s Signature Hot chocolate RM15

Not to forget, a cup of Forum’s Signature Hot chocolate. This hot drink is superb. Intense chocolate  flavour as they double up the chocolaty with a base of chocolate in liquid and solid form. Melt down everything for a good minute with hot milk and finish with marshmallow! Lovely!

End our meal with Red Velvet Cake and Moist Chocolate Cake from the dessert counter.

Overall review: We like the ambience in The Forum KL. Cozy and quiet, great for us to enjoy some undisturbed moments. For food we tasted, we recommend Mushroom Soup, Nasi Goreng and Grilled Atlantic Salmon. For drinks, of course is Prana Chai and Hot Chocolate! The Forum KL has launched their very own house-blend coffee beans so we wouldn’t mind giving it a try in our next brunch visit.
