JW Marriott Kuala Lumpur welcomes this special month at Shook! Feast Village Starhill Gallery, Bukit Bintang Kuala Lumpur, showcasing sumptuous array of Malay delicacies set in traditional kampong ambience.

Chef Rafizan Abdul Rahim and his culinary team has crafted a special menu that poises to satisfy your discerning tastebuds, ranges from appetisers to salads, soups, mains, desserts and snacks – all inspired by Grandma’s recipes.

Walk through those beautiful gerai lined up with speciality dishes, reminisce the nostalgia of breaking fast in a traditional village, and get ready to be spoilt with your favourites – which you might already lost count on looking at the comprehensive spread

Begin with Ulam-Ulaman (assorted local salad) – ulam pergaga, petai, ulam raja timun, daun selon, terung pipit rebus, jering, kacang botol, served with Sambal Belacan (shrimp paste salsa), Sambal Tempoyak(Fermented Durian Salsa), Sambal Kicap(Soy Bean Salsa), Sambal Nenas(Pineapple Salsa), Sambal Cencaluk (Fermented Baby Shrimp), Budu (Spicy Shrimp Salsa), Sambal Mangga (Mango Salsa), Sambal Belacan (Shrimp Paste Salsa)..

…Acar Jelatah (Pineapple & Cucumber Salad), Kerabu Udang, Kerabu Daging(Beef Salad), Telur Masin, Thai Chicken & Glass Noodles Salad, Kerabu Kacang Botol (Winged Bean Salad), Kerabu Taugeh(Beansprouts Salad) and Ikan Masin(Assorted Salted Fish).

Western appetizer options are available too, such as Coleslaw, Potato Salad, Seafood Cocktail and Waldorf Salad. Personally enjoyed the Seafood Cocktail, with dressing complements mussels in a refreshing way.

Moving on to the roast corner, also where the signature of this festive buffet lays – Whole Kambing Panggang! Ask for generous slices of roasted lamb as you wish to, dress them with sauces and tuck in! Great with Briyani Rice!

Roast chicken from Gerai Nasi Ayam. Worth getting a helping to try, especially the chicken rice.

Tummy warming noodles from Gerai Mee. Laksa is served, with various DIY toppings.

…continue with Satay Daging, Murtabak Ayam, Kari Ayam, Roti Canai, and Ayam Goreng. Do give their roti canai a try. It may be one of the simplest dishes in Shook! festive buffet but also one of the best! Fresh made, crispy edges, fluffy texture. Nice!

Sup Ayam (Chicken Soup), Sup Ekor(Oxtail Soup), Sup Ayam(Chicken Soup),Sup Kambing(Lamb Soup) from Gerai Sup.

Conclude the meal with local desserts such as Kuih Lapis, Kuih Seri Muka, Kuich Tepung Pelita, Cucur Badak, and Onde-onde. Bread & Butter Pudding, Moist Chocolate Cake and French desserts are beautifully lined up too for more sweet indulgence.
