If traditional afternoon tea sounds too mainstream to you, head over to Newens Tea House at Starhill Gallery, Bukit Bintang Kuala Lumpur from July to September, as this popular high tea spot right in the KL city centre adds a new and refreshing twist to the classic afternoon tea.
From perfectly steeped cup of tea, delicate pastries to flavours from the Middle Eastern and our local local very own delicacies, Newens Tea House is set to bring you a memorable, one-of-its-kind high tea experience.
In line with A Journey Through Tea series available throughout the year, A French Affair, Arabic Delights and Malaysian Tea will be available for the months of July, August and September respectively.
July – All About French
Themed with a French touch, Newens Tea House Starhill Gallery welcomes the month of July with A French Affair.
A three-tiered cake stand decked up with sweet and savoury goodness, such as Croque-Madames, Wild Mushroom Vol-Au-Vents, Petit Fours and Egg Croissants, and Tuna Croissants. This is accompanied by free-flow of Vanilla Tea.
Our favourite is undoubtedly these dainty pastries, all too pretty to eat!
August – Arabic Delights
The highlight for the month for August is Arabic Delights .
Definitely something that is beyond your usual afternoon tea.
We happily tuck into a selection of decadent pastries, all plated on a carved silver tray.
Baklava – sweet pastry, Falafel – deep-fried patties with chickpeas, Kibbeh – deep-fried patties with onions and lamb, Hummus – dip made with mashed chickpeas, Mini Pies and Turkish Delights. Mini size with a bit of everything. We especially enjoyed the hummus.
This afternoon tea experience comes paired with free-flow of Moroccan Tea.
September – Malaysian Tea
Coming to the month of September, we will be celebrating Malaysia Day on 16 September!
So there you go, where you can have Malaysian Tea all month long in September. Afternoon tea with teh tarik in an exquisite ambience, why not?
The local favourites featured on the afternoon tea includes Pisang Goreng, Chicken Satay with Peanut Sauce and Roti Jala served with Chicken Curry. Tea is complemented by free-flow of Teh Tarik.
Everything is good for this series – tender bites of chicken satay, freshly made roti jala, superb with the flavourful curry and not to forget, a glass of teh tarik that is always best with these popular street eats!
These thematic tea experiences are available throughout each respective month from 2.30pm to 5.30pm daily at MYR140 nett per set for two persons. In case you want to check out the normal Afternoon Tea Set version too, the staffs are more than happy to serve you.
