Alta Cafe Bangsar: Paris & Copenhagen Cafe Culture Inspired

July 13, 2018 by summerkid_summergirl

Alta Cafe Jalan Bangkung Bangsar, currently our Top 3 best cafes in KL for 2018. Paris and Copenhagen cafe culture inspired, prides for artisanal breads, homemade cheese, and more.

Alta Cafe Bangsar

New, opened just in June, Alta Cafe Bangsar Kuala Lumpur set to liven up the neighbourhood area of Bangkung with rewarding breakfast and brunch, to satisfy even diners with discerning tastebuds. In case you wonder where it is, it is taking over the location of Lorem Ipsum, same row with Jarrod & Rawlins, Lucky Bo Cafe and PINCH Bangsar.

Alta Cafe Bangsar

It was a busy morning for Alta Cafe when we walked in last Saturday. Clean look, inviting interior without much by-purposed designs built for photography, but still worthwhile with details like framed pictures adorning the wall, enough to earn them some Insta-worthy corners. Comfortable, right ambience for brunch.

The cafe may be new, but the team behind is never. Experienced, passionate people from Sitka Batai, partnered with a coffee roaster cafe from Bukit Bintang, a cafe from Section 17 and Pinch next door – They know their food well. You can easily be convinced that a meal here will not be disappointing.

Scrambled Egg, Sourdough, Confit Chilli Peppers, Salsa Verde RM21

Alta Cafe menu is small in the meantime, but rest assured, satisfying. They are serious when come to cooking, paying attention to detail on almost everything – ingredients quality, freshness, handling & preparation and up to serving presentation.  Whatever that can be made from scratch, they don’t stock the bottles from market.

A clear 4 categories selections – eggs, bowls, tartine/croissants, cheese. Price from RM15 onwards.

Really love our oh-so-delicious scrambled egg. Fluffy and moist, putting a good texture contrast with the crusty, homemade sourdough. Topped with confit chilli peppers and salsa verde that are beyond just to brighten up the presentation, but enhancing the overall flavour with a very nice touch of mild spiciness and sourness in between.

Homemade Ricotta, Shaved Raw Vegetables, Tomato Compote & Black Olive RM21

Homemade Ricotta, presented like a piece of art. Too pretty to eat! And ya, it tasted as lovely as its look. Recommended also homemade Stracciatella, a type of buffalo milk-based cheese.

Hot Latte RM11, Hot Chocolate RM13

Beverage goes from usual piccolo, espresso, white, mocha and chocolate to selection of teas, cold pressed juice, iced lemon tea, etc.. Wine like Pete’s Pure Bianco, Pete’s Pure Rosso, Raventos i BLANC, Unico Zelo and Smallfry Barossa  Riesling make an appearance in Alta Cafe Bangsar too.

Total bill came to RM66 for 2. Acceptable price, friendly service, noteworthy food. To be honest, we were quite sceptical about Alta at first. We browsed through the only few reviews we could find online and on Instagram before going, thinking what makes a slice of bread with scrambled egg and condiments cost over RM20. But now, we strongly recommend this place. A lot of effort going into their dishes, with thoughtful mix & match.
