Time flies. Mid-Autumn Festival is here once again, fast approaching in a month, on 24 September 2018 to be exact.

To celebrate this celestial tradition, Grand Harbour Chinese Cuisine Restaurant & Banquet has come up with an exquisite selections of mooncakes, Mid-Autumn ala-carte creations and Mid-Autumn Festival 9-course Set Menu.

Glad to be in Grand Harbour Fahrenheit 88 last week, joining a special preview to sample some of their Mid-Autumn specials, and of course mooncakes too!

Wok Fried Giant Grouper Fillet in Hong Kong Fishing Village Style – it was only the first dish but already our favourite! Thick cut grouper fillet deep fried to crispy golden brown, further flash fried with plenty of chopped garlic, scallion, fermented black beans and red chillies – the essential ingredients for pack a punch Bei Fung Tong cooking style. Addictive till the last bit of fried garlic were cleared off.

Braised Crab Meat Thick Soup with Assorted Dried Seafood & Crab Roe 蟹粉蟹肉海味羹

Next, a bowlful of rich and thick soup, clocked in just right for the rainy evening. Braise together with crab meat, dried seafood and crab roe, this soup is all about gathering umami goodness from the ocean treats.

Braised Spare Ribs with Chestnut & Fried Onion 蔥油栗子燜肥骨

Spare ribs with good proportion of lean and fat meat, slowly-braised for hours till moist and tender, well-absorbed with flavours of specially concocted braised sauce. Have a bowl of white rice to douse with the sauce? Yes we need, thank you!

Steamed Chicken with Lotus Seed & Garlic in Lotus Leaf 荷葉蓮子鹽水雞

Steamed Chicken with Lotus Seed & Garlic in Lotus Leaf, a dish that involves laborious process of double soaking and steaming, but the end result is fabulous. It is also one of the highlights for Grand Harbour Mid-Autumn 2018 special, highly recommended if you are here for a reunion dinner this mooncake festival.

Poached Ming Prawn with Chinese Yellow Wine 黃酒堂灼明蝦

A popular Chinese dish that is simple, yet so delicious. Instead of preparing it in the kitchen and brought to table, staff will help to cook the prawns on the spot, so that diners can savour the prawns at its best texture possible – fresh, bouncy, meaty.

Braised Homemade Beancurd with Fish Lips & Mushroom in Abalone Sauce 鮑汁冬菇魚唇扒自制豆腐

Silky soft homemade tofu, dressed in flavourful abalone sauce. Collagen added, thanks to the fish lips.

Fried Rice with Eel & Black Pepper 黑胡椒鰻魚炒飯

We kind of love this fried rice with a twist. Not about wok-hei loaded, but the idea of stir-frying together with eel chunks really helps to enhance the overall flavour, along with bright aroma of black pepper. Nice.
