Poison Apple Sunway Pinnacle, Fairy Tale Inspired Restaurant & Bar

October 11, 2019 by summerkid_summergirl

Poison Apple Sunway Pinnacle (*on the right side of Sunway EGG, same entrance), an all-new fairy tale inspired restaurant and bar in Bandar Sunway is now ready to welcome you for a spellbinding dining and drinking experience!

Opened by the team behind Caffeinees Group, who also owns Caffeinees Palace, Yamaguchi Fish Market, Black Market, Eight Gourmets Gala (EGG), Truly Wine and Winetrade.com.my, Poison Apple is designed in collaboration with Somersby as one of its flagships outlet in Kuala Lumpur, promises to deliver surprising and interesting concept – both on the ambiance, interior, food and beverage.

Our “escape from reality into fantasy” journey at Poison Apple begins at the entrance with a charming little wooden Hobbit’s doorway entrance and mini garden, followed by a smoky wishing well upon entering! Look up and we saw moving portraits and holographic fairies that add a touch of mystery to the overall atmosphere.

Main dining hall decked with extensive wines and liquors selections, sourced from all over the world along with beers and ciders.

Poison Apple menu put together Western and Asian delights, from classic delights to dishes fused with modern creativity. If you have a hard time deciding what to eat, go for their top 10 recommendations – Lobster Omelette, Seafood Tom Yum Mee Hoon, Griffin Wings, The Beast Burger, Red Queen Spaghetti, Spicy Unicorn’s Leg, Chilli Phoenix, Excalibur, Ang Moh Spring Rolls and Old Drive’s Fried Rice.

Has been seeing this Exacalibur, the Sword in the Stone RM32 in few recipe videos but always too lazy to try it out. Glad to see this on Poison Apple’s menu. And it is really good!

Dense, chewy sourdough bread coupled with oh-so-stretchy cheese! Sinfully delicious.

The Beast Burger RM33, meant for you to forget about calories and just indulge! Huge aside, what makes this burger stands out is the 120g of cheese patty –  breaded, deep fried to golden brown like croquette; sandwiched together with 150g of 100% beef patty within two buttered round bun. Open your mouth big and take a deep bite!

Lobster Omelette RM168, our top pick among the food we tried that evening. Poached Canadian lobster served in stone pot, pour over with egg mixture when served. Covered with lid and wait for 10 minutes.

DSCF4613

Violaa… soft, silky smooth steamed egg graciously infused with umami sweetness of lobster is ready!

DSCF4524

Griffin Wings RM22, for diners who enjoy bold, ma lat flavours. Spicy, but manageable for us. Best to go with a pint of two of beer.

DSCF4561

If you visit Poison Apple in group, do not miss out Chilli Phoenix RM58, another favourite of ours. Whole Kampung chicken rubbed with Szechuan pepper oil, carefully smoked to impart hint of applewood smokiness and aroma not only around the amber-hue outer layer, but also within the tender, juicy meat. Recommended.

DSCF4520

Take a switch from the usual aglio-olio and had this Red Queen Spaghetti RM33. Pretty interesting pasta dish, stir-fried in Sze Chuan pepper and with minced chicken.

DSCF4554

Didn’t expect they’ll serve the Old Driver’s Fried Rice RM28 this way! Gimmicky, yet an ideal choice for diners looking for substantial meal. Seafood base, stir-fried with scallop and baby anchovies.

DSCF4515

Seafood Tom Yam Mee Hoon RM33, our top 3.

DSCF4499

It might not be the most outstanding dish, but definitely a hard-to-go-wrong with comfort food that you can enjoy for lunch, dinner, supper or in between. Spicy, sourish broth loaded with generous amount of seafood, kept warmth in hot stone pot. It is still pipping hot after half an hour.

A visit to Poison Apple is incomplete without checking out their “potions”! We sampled Poison Apple Signature, Snow White’s Potion, Witch’s Voodoo Cauldron, and The Seven Dwarf – all specially concocted, evoked with “magical” presentation.

The Seven Dwarf –  must have in Poison Apple. A shot of 7, mixing beer including with a variety of syrups. Connors with Khalua, Carlsberg with Peach, Carlsberg with Blue Curacao, Carlsberg with Grenadine, Carlsberg with Peppermint, Carlsberg with Apple & Grenadine, Carlsberg beer.

Overall, lovely place for casual dining, event, party, or gathering. We personally enjoyed their Lobster Omelette in Hot Stone Pot, Excalibur Cheesy Bread, and Chilli Phoneix Smoked Chicken the most.
