Brew and Bread Wisma MCA, Jalan Ampang KL is now opened! After 8 years serving the neighbourhood in Kota Kemuning with awesome coffee and brunch, Brew N Bread cafe is finally bringing their coffee to KL city!
For years, our memory for the cross junction of Jalan Tun Razak/Jalam Ampang is all about the heavily congested traffic during rush hours in the evening. The traffic is bad, and it is something that perhaps, not gonna change in near future. But now there’s something that can switch our attention from the jam- is cafes that bloom around this area!
This area used to have just San Francisco Coffee, then Optimist Coffee kiosk opens up right in front Ampang LRT. When The Linc KL is built one year ago, we got more cafe options like Bean Brothers, Bo Dining KL. Antipodean and If Only KL further down in Jalan U-Thant are nice too and just recently, what excites us is, the famous cafe from Kota Kemuning – Brew and Bread finally set up an outlet, at Wisma MCA!
We have heard a lot about Brew and Bread Coffee but has not visited this place before, as we hardly go to Shah Alam. This cafe opens since 2012, still standing strong till today thanks to their lovely brunch and coffee. Yay we can now give their coffee a try!
Food selections in Brew and Bread Wisma MCA is different from the menu in Kota Kemuning but rest assured, satisfying. Breakfast choices are kept simple but tasty, with Turkey Ham Cheese Egg Sandwich (RM10.90), Seaweed Bonito Cheese Egg Sandwich (RM8.90) and Double Cheese Garlic Egg Sandwich (RM9.90) taking limelight.
Do try this Croissant with Butter and Homemade Kaya RM6.90, exclusively available only in Brew & Bread Wisma MCA. Goes well with our brewed coffee, using Ethiopian beans.
To warm up the tummy, Double Boiled Mushroom Soup RM12 comes in just right. Along with that, Thai Telur RM13 – with Fried Omelette, corals, lime, red onions, red chilli, lemongrass and homemade Thai dressing and Gado-gado RM14 – lettuce, Japanese cucumber, cherry tomatoes, egg, fried tao pok, and nanay-recipe-peanut sauce.
As 11AM strikes, expect substantial meal like Szechuan Mapo Tofu Rice Bowl (RM19), Ken’s Curry Rice Bowl (RM16), Ayam Pongteh Rice Bowl (RM18), Hot Bunny Crab Pappardelle (RM25), Fettucine Pesto (RM16), Sahcha Spaghetti (RM19), Aglio Olio Spaghetti (RM14) for brunch /lunch. Price is reasonable, mostly below RM20.
Highly recommended Hot Bunny Crab – fresh pappardelle cooked in old English recipe paste made of turmeric, spice, carrot, grated cheese and fresh crab meat garnishing. Staff told us that Sahcha Pasta is one of their star dishes too, do check it out when you are here.
For rice bowl, we love the Szechuan Mapo Tofu. Fragrant rice generously heaped with slow cook Szechuan Peppercorn mapo soft white tofu, topped with toasted sesame, spring onion and sunny side up. Flavourful but mild in spiciness, comfort food that we don’t mind coming back for again.
Other than the usual Black and White, exclusive coffee like Cold Brew, Snow Black, and Brewed Coffee are noteworthy too. Hot chocolate, ice chocolate, matcha latte and peach tea for the non-coffee list.
